Endocrinological Research – Nordic Region

Basic and clinical research in endocrinology. Limited project or a clearly defined part of a major project (in the latter case, a

summary of the major project should be included). Can be applied for by researchers in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and

Sweden. Operational expenses and technical assistance, including payroll costs for other

researchers for a limited period of time. Also available for the salary of the main applicant - to cover full-time research

for a limited period of time and on condition that the main applicant can be released from other work during this period.

Not available for applications concerning cancer research. Not available for travel or printing expenses. Not available for major equipment expenses (in excess of DKK 50,000).

Clinical Nursing Research - Denmark

Masters or PhD education for nurses. As for PhD students the main applicant must be registered for an education at a Danish university at the time of application.

Postdoctoral education for nurses. It is possible to apply for funding to study abroad and to cover operating expenses including student assistant, development of new research methods and theories etc.

It is possible to apply for a limited project or a clearly defined part of a major project. The main applicant must be a nurse. Applicants who have previously received funding for the same project and who want to apply again must state the progress of the research project in the application.

Applications for less than DKK 50,000 will not be considered.

Grants for research in art history.

Projects that can contribute to the development of research in art history are also eligible for grants. The research must be conducted mainly in Denmark.

 It is possible to apply for a separate project or for a clearly described part of a major project (in the latter case, a summary of the major project should be included).

Scholarships

The Novo Nordisk Foundation awards a number of scholarships at different levels every year, primarily for health research.

All scholarships are awarded with specific deadlines based on calls for applications, submission of applications and expert assessment.

The scholarships include payroll contributions and, normally, varying operating contributions. The duration of the scholarships is 2-5 years.

There are currently 53 scholarships in progress.

Clinical Research Scholarships

Applications for clinical research scholarships are assessed by the Medical and Scientific Research Committee.

Five-year scholarships for senior researchers in full-time clinical positions with a view to partial release of the researcher from the clinical position.

The scholarship is to ensure that significant research activity can be maintained alongside a clinical position with a view to ensuring continuity in research and research guidance.

The scholarship is for a total of DKK 2.5 million and is awarded in annual installments of DKK 500,000 to cover the salary of a person who is qualified to undertake the clinical responsibilities of the clinical researcher holding the scholarship.

Hallas-Møller Scholarship - Denmark

Applications are assessed by the Medical and Scientific Research Committee.

Five-year scholarships for senior researchers. Danish research in medicine and natural science, preferably within the fields of basic biomedical research, translational research and clinical research.

Two scholarships are awarded per year. The total payment during the scholarship amounts to DKK 11 mio. The payment per year is DKK 2.2 mio. at the maximum. The amount is covering own salary and also operational expenses up to DKK

1.5 mio. p.a.

Postdoctoral Scholarships in General Practice/Family Medicine – Denmark

Objective: To support research in general medicine, especially to retain physicians as researchers in the general medicine research environments at or in association with the universities.

Requirements: Applicants must have earned a PhD or have similar academic qualifications.

Grant: There are two full two-year scholarships available, each of DKK 500,000 p.a. It is possible to apply for a half scholarship if the applicant wishes to maintain clinical responsibilities during the scholarship period.

Mads Øvlisen Art History Scholarships

Applications are assessed by the Art History Committee The scholarships are aimed at 3-year PhD course with

enrollment at a Danish university. Awarded to applicants whose research lies within art history.

There are calls for research aimed at both newer and older art-historical and / or art theory subjects.

Two scholarships are awarded every second year.

Symposia

Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Meetings Grants for the hosting of symposia in the Nordic Region, possibly as satellite

symposia in connection with large conferences, or grants for the invitation of leading international researchers for short-term sojourns with a research team combined with open lectures or the like. Grants are not available for holding courses.

The theme of the activity must be within endocrinology or experimental physiology. Each grant is normally in the order of DKK 100,000 or more.

It is possible to apply in 2010 for projects to take place in 2011 and 2012.

hosting of or participation in congresses or scientific conferences, with the exception of the areas specified under symposia

arrangement and hosting of theatrical performances, concerts, art exhibitions, film shoots and album recordings

payroll or other subsidies for education, including study sojourns operation and administration of institutions, institutes and

organizations operation and maintenance of sports clubs, youth clubs and other

special-interest organizations   personal grants for the improvement of social conditions,

convalescence trips, visits to health resorts and courses   commercial purposes, sponsorships
