1.2 Printgroove POD Ready Overview
Printgroove POD Ready is a Windows application that is used for preview-
ing and editing PDF documents prior to those jobs being printed by the in-
ternal (CRD/reprographics department) employee.
Printgroove POD Ready can be used with the Printgroove POD Suite. Jobs
can go from Serve to Guide to Ready where PDF files can be edited. Edited
jobs can be sent back to Guide and then to Queue for processing.
Ready may also be used to create new jobs that can be sent to Queue for
processing. The original jobs are managed by Ready, including versions of
those jobs.
If the user has full, licensed version of Queue and Ready, the user may use
the Direct Queue mode of Ready. In this mode, jobs are managed in Queue
but can be selected and edited in Ready by a simple click of a button. The
Queue job opens in Ready and edits may be made, saved, and then the job
returns to Queue for processing.

1.3 Licensing Overview
Supported Printgroove POD Ready functions are determined based on the
type of license you have purchased. There are two types of operation
modes, Trial Mode and Normal Mode. To use Printgroove POD Ready in
Normal Mode, a serial-key is required. This is a alpha-numeric text string
and is provided with your purchase. If you cannot locate it, check with your
Konica Minolta sales representative.
Trial Mode
If a serial key is not entered during the installation phase, Printgroove POD
Ready operates in Trial mode for 30 days from the first day used. To up-
grade to Normal Mode, a valid serial-key must be entered.
Normal Mode
If a serial key is entered during the installation phase, Printgroove POD
Ready operates in Normal Mode and full application functionality is sup-
ported.
Note that two computers on the same network cannot share the same se-
rial-key. Two unique serial-keys are required if this operating situation is
mandatory for your work environment.
The function support difference between Trial Mode and Normal Mode are
noted below:

3 Basic Information
This chapter provides basic information about some of the terms and func-
tions of Printgroove POD Ready. For complete details, refer to the User’s
Guide provided on the CD-ROM.
3.1 Running Modes
Printgroove POD Ready supports four different modes of operation, each
based upon the application with which Ready can interact. The running
mode is first defined during the installation of Ready. Once the application
is installed, the mode may be modified any time using the [Settings] option.
The four supported operation modes are:
- Printgroove POD Ready with Printgroove POD Guide: In this mode,
Ready and Guide can communicate and jobs may be sent back and
forth between the applications.
- Printgroove POD Ready with Printgroove POD Queue: in this mode,
Ready and Queue can communicate and jobs may be sent back and
forth between the applications.
- Direct Queue: In this mode, the user has fully licensed versions of
Queue and Ready. Queue is the main application and on-the-fly editing
via Ready is initiated via a Queue menu function (from Queue, right-click
on the job and select [Edit with Ready]).
- Printgroove POD Ready Standalone: In this mode Printgroove POD
Ready does not provide any interaction between Printgroove POD
Guide or Printgroove POD Queue.

3.1.1 Using Printgroove POD Ready in Guide Mode
In this mode, Printgroove POD Ready can get (check-out) a job which is
part of the Printgroove POD Guide workflow. That job can then be opened
in Printgroove POD Ready and edited. The job can be saved in the [Repos-
itory Panel] and send back (checked-in) to Printgroove POD Guide to proc-
ess further.
To enable this communication, settings must be modified in Guide. neces-
sary on Printgroove POD Guide.
Job information is read from the Job Ticket associated with the checked
out job. Files present in the job will be listed on the [Files] tab in the [Job
Ticket Panel]. Jobs in Ready can be opened at any time, edited and saved.
Once editing is done, you can send the job to Printgroove POD Guide so it
can move through the Proof process. The proof can be accepted or reject-
ed. If the proof is accepted, you can check the job back into Printgroove
POD Guide.
