Willkommen auf dem internationalen Campus!

Zur diesjährigen Internationalen Woche haben Lehrende aus drei Studiengängen und sie-ben Studienfächern unserer Universität 23 internationale Gäste aus Russland, den Verei-nigten Staaten, Österreich, der Schweiz, den Niederlanden, Belgien, Litauen, Estland, Finn-land, England, Kolumbien, Ecuador, Island, der Türkei und Dänemark eingeladen.

Die Besonderheit: Die Lehrveranstaltungen der internationalen Gäste fi nden im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltungen ihrer Vechtaer Fachkolleginnen und -kollegen statt. Die Veran-staltungen sind somit fester Bestandteil der Seminar- und Vorlesungspläne und die Stu-dierenden profi tieren unmittelbar von den internationalen Lehr- und Forschungsperspek-tiven.

Das diesjährige Programm umfasst über 40 Vorträge und Lehrveranstaltungen, die sämt-lich für Interessierte geöffnet sind und in deutscher oder englischer Sprache stattfi nden. AnglistikDr. Nikola Mayer von der Pädagogischen Hochschule Zürich auf Einladung von Prof. Dr. Eva Wilden.

Dr. Nikola Mayer

Nikola Mayer arbeitet seit 2012 als Dozentin für Fremdsprachendidaktik

mit dem Schwerpunkt Englisch in der Sekundarstufe an der Pädagogischen

Hochschule Zürich. Sie ist ausgebildete Realschullehrerin und hat ihre Pro-

motion im Bereich der subjektiven Theorien von Fremdsprachenlehrperso-

nen an der Universität Bremen abgeschlossen. Sie verfügt über langjährige

Erfahrungen in Forschung und Lehre an diversen deutschen Hochschulen

(Universität Bremen, Carl-von-Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Pädago-

gische Hochschule Heidelberg, Goethe Universität Frankfurt), sowohl im

Bereich der Primar- als auch der Sekundarstufendidaktik. Die Forschungs-

schwerpunkte von Nikola Mayer liegen zum einen auf der Literaturdidaktik

und hierbei seit einigen Jahren auf den Möglichkeiten den Englischunter-

richt mittels Comics und Graphic Novels zu bereichern und einen starken

Bezug zur Lebenswelt der Schülerinnen und Schüler herzustellen. Ein

weiterer Forschungsschwerpunkt befasst sich mit der Gestaltung des

Übergangs von der Primar- zur Sekundarstufe.

Prof. Dr. Jeremy Tambling

Jeremy Tambling is a writer and critic, who has been engaged with education and teaching at all

levels and across the range, including holding the Chair of Comparative Literature in Hong Kong,

and of Literature in Manchester. He is currently editing the “Palgrave Handbook to the City and

Literature”, a comprehensive account of how cities as texts, and modern literature as inevitably

city-based. It should appear in late 2016. He is also writing for Palgrave “The Devil in Literature:

From Marlowe to Mann and the Manichees”. And he is continuing his work on Dante with ongoing

work on “Paradiso”, and following two books on time and anachroniity, “Becoming Posthumous”

and “On Anachronism”, he is planning a third which will sort out his ideas on temporality and time,

drawing on Bernard Stiegler as a starting-point for debate.

Prof. Dr. Michael Hollington

Michael Hollington is a retired Professor of English and Comparative Literature. He has taught

in every continent, with a concentration on Britain and Europe - especially France - and Aust-

ralia. In particular he has been Professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia and

the University of Toulouse-le Mirail in France. Currently he is Honorary Research Fellow at the

University of Kent, Canterbury UK. He has many specialities, but is best known as a Dickensian.

This does not mean, however, that he is a Victorianist - the perspectives he favours for the study

of Dickens are international. He is particularly interested in the idea of Dickens as a proto-Mo-

dernist, and is currently studying Modernist writers who were infl uenced by him. These include

T S Eliot, whose famous poem ‚The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock‘ will be the subject of his

contribution to International Week.

Dr. Dominic WattDominic Watt is Senior Lecturer in Forensic Speech Science at the

University of York, UK. His teaching is principally on York's MSc in

Forensic Speech Science, but he also teaches sociolinguistics and

phonetics at various levels, and gives classes on forensic linguistics

in the University's Law School. His research is focussed on foren-

sic phonetics, sociophonetics, language and identity studies, and

dialectology. He has co-authored and edited a number of books

(e.g. 'Language, Borders and Identity', with Carmen Llamas, 2014,

and 'English Accents and Dialects', with Arthur Hughes and Peter

Trudgill, 2012) and several dozen journal articles and book chapters

on topics in phonetics and language variation. With Charles Boberg

and John Nerbonne, he is co-editor of the forthcoming 'Handbook of

Dialectology' (Wiley-Blackwell, 2016).

Patricia Aguirre Mejía

Dr.rer.nat in landscape ecology and Master of Sciences Agr. International

Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture of the Georg August University of Göt-

tingen in Germany. Over 10 years of teaching experience, researcher and co-

ordinator of national and international projects. The main research interests

are: rural development and education for sustainable development, climate

change, sustainable agriculture, sustainable tourism. Currently, Professor of

the Graduate Institute at the Technical University of the North (UTN) in Ecua-

dor. Co-Leader of the international project “Competence-based Teaching and

Learning in Higher Education” between the University of Antioquia in Colom-

bia, the University of Vechta, and the UTN.

Katharina Steinlechner

Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration and Master

of Science in Marketing and Management of the Hohenheim University,

Germany. Since 2014, International Relations Coordinator of the Technical

University of the North (Ibarra, Ecuador).

Workshop

Dr. Roger CuttingProf. Dr. Roger Cutting is Associate Professor in Plymouth at the Ins-

titute of Education, a qualifi ed Peace Educator and has taught Peace

Education in programme components at both under-graduate and post-

graduate levels for over a decade. At Masters Level this has included

a critical focus on anti-radicalisation strategies and an exploration of

the implications and impacts of such policies. Recently his research

and academic writing has focused on a critical exploration of education

and extremism in UK contexts from both historical and contemporary

perspectives and he is particularly interested in the historical strategic

use of education by the populist Far Right aimed at the radicalisation

and recruitment of young people in the inter-war years and how these

past events have a degree of contemporary resonance. This line of

research has resulted in the publication of two peer reviewed journal

articles in 2015 and a third paper presently in preparation for 2016.

Dr. Lynne Wyness

Dr. Lynne Wyness is Educational Developer at the Plymouth University.

She worked for Plymouth University for three years, as a researcher for

the Pedagogic Research Institute and Observatory (PedRIO) and the

Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF), and as an Educational Developer

within Teaching and Learning Support. Following a degree in Geogra-

phy from Aberystwyth University, she taught for over twelve years in a

variety of educational institutions in the UK, including primary, secon-

dary, and Further Education. In 2007, she returned to academia where

she gained a Masters in Sustainable Development from the University

of Exeter followed by a PhD in Human Geography exploring the geo-

graphies of education, global educational partnerships, and teachers’

personal and professional development within these. Her most recent

research has explored the intersection of sustainability and entrepre-

neurship education.

Andrea Perneth

Andrea Perneth holds a B.A in Informatics & Audio Visual

Technology for Education, and a M.A in Hermeneutics and

Literature. For the last eight years she worked in different

faculties of Education and Social Sciences, at the University

of Córdoba, Universidad de Antioquia, and the North Catho-

lic University Foundation, teaching Pedagogy, Literature

and Philosophy. She also teaches methods for qualitative

research for undergraduate students, especially at the end

of their careers. As a researcher, she has been focused in

Discourse Analysis, Learnings Assessment, and Citizenship

in Colombian public education.

Prof.dr.ir. Theo Spek

Prof.dr.ir. Theo Spek studied soil science and graduated in historical geo-

graphy at Wageningen Agricultural University. After that he worked as a

project and programme leader at the Dutch Soil Survey, Alterra, the Nati-

onal Heritage Agency and the Unviersity of Groningen. Since 2010 he is a

full professor of Landscape History at the University of Groningen, where

he founded the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary Centre for Lands-

cape Studies. In his research he combines methods and theories from the

natural sciences, humanities and spatial sciences into an interdisciplinary

and transdisciplinary approach of the past, present and future of cultural

landscapes. The Centre for Landscape Studies aims at scientifi c education

(one year master course and two year research master course in landscape

history), fundamental landscape research as well as the valorisation and

transfer of knowledge towards citizens, practioners and governments.

Prof.dr.ir. Theo Spek

Prof. Dr. Hannes Palang

Dr. Hannes Palang is a geographer interested in culture in

the landscape. He is professor of human geography and

head the Center for Landscape and Culture at the Tallinn

University, Estonia. He is also the former President of

the Permanent European Conference for the Study of the

Rural Landscape. His past research ranges from landscape

diversity indexes to local participation and time layers.

He has been involved in many applied projects in planning

valuable landscapes and assessing their values.

Prof. Dr. Serge Schmitz

After studying geography at the University of Liège, Serge Schmitz fi rst

worked on land consolidations, natural parks and landscape analyses. He

then wrote a thesis on the appropriation of places by the inhabitants of the

countryside in Belgium. He is trying to fi nd out what is the relevant environ-

ment in which inhabitants live and what are their feelings about changes to

their environment. He spent time in overseas universities, comparing the

different ways of interpreting geography in Europe and the United States.

In 2007, he created his own laboratory, the laboratory for the analysis of

places, landscape and European countryside, whose ambition is to study

European countryside and compare different realities and practices accor-

ding to the geographical context. Little by little his work is leaving Europe

to study Guatemala fi rst, where he is studying socio-natural risks. The same

kind of project is currently in operation in the Philippines and Cameroon.

The idea is still to understand what makes living in the countryside diffe-

rent, not only in Europe but also in other countries. Since 2016, he co-chairs

the Commission of Sustainable Rural Systems of the International Geogra-

phical Union.

Prof. Dr. Vladimir Kuritsyn lehrt und forscht an der Staatlichen Univer-sität Ivanovo, Abteilung Shuya. Seine Schwerpunkte sind Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF), Interkulturelle Kommunikation, Deutsche Landes-kunde und Kultur und Fremdsprachendidaktik (spez. Interkulturelles Lernen, Multiliteracy). Dr. Larisa Gudkova – ebenfalls von der Staatlichen Universität Ivanovo, Abteilung Shuya – beschäftigt sich vor allem mit den sprachwissenschaft-lichen Themen der deutschen Gegenwartssprache (Lexikologie, kontras-tive Linguistik, Stilistik) sowie DaF. Dr. Gudkova ist engagiert im blended learning Fort- und Weiterbildungskurs „Deutsch lehren lernen“ des Goethe Instituts Moskau.

Dr. Elena Kalashnikova ist an der Moskauer Staatlichen Linguistischen Universität am Lehrstuhl für deutsche Phonetik tätig. Im Rahmen ihres Studiums und ihrer Dissertation setzte sie sich vorwiegend mit den pho-nologischen Aspekten (Phonologie, Phonetik, Phonostilistik) der deut-schen Sprache auseinander. Die gebürtige Moskauerin veröffentlichte dazu zahlreiche Artikel.

Dr. Yilmaz TürkanDr. Yilmaz Türkan ist Dozentin für Gerontologie an der Univer-sität Akdeniz in der Türkei. Sie studierte in Deutschland Elekt-rotechnik an der FH Niederrhein-Krefeld, Sicherheitstechnik an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal, Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität Duisburg-Essen und promovierte an der TU Dortmund. Es folgten Tätigkeiten u. a. als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Rhein-Ruhr-Institut für Sozialforschung und Politikberatung e.V. an der Universität Duisburg-Essen sowie bei der Forschungsgesellschaft für Gerontologie e.V. an der TU Dortmund. 2013 kehrte sie in die Türkei zurück. Ihre Arbeits- und Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Themen Migration und Alter, kultursensible Pfl ege, Alter und Sozialpolitik sowie die Lebens-lagenforschung.

Prof. Dr. Remigijus Bubnys is Vice-Rector for Studies of the Siauli-

ai University and Associate Professor of the Department of Social

Welfare of the Faculty of Education Sciences and Social Welfare. His

research interests are refl ective learning at the higher educational

institution and professional activities; refl ection as a didactic method;

refl ective writing; models of integrating theoretical and practical

knowledge; quantitative and qualitative research methodology; pheno-

menological hermeneutics; mixed research strategies, etc. Professor

Bubnys gave lectures, went on internships and participated in confe-

rences in Latvia, Finland, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Portu-

gal, Turkey, South Korea and other countries.

Annukka Knuuttila MA is a music therapist and early child-

hood music teacher. She is teaching early childhood music

education and inclusive music education at Kuopio Conser-

vatoire and Savonia University of Applied Sciencis. She also

teaches music pedagogy at the Art University, the Church

Music Department. She has been in charge of developing

inclusive music pedagogy at Kuopio Conservatoire and

consulting on the subject in several projects both in Finland

and internationally.

Prof. Dr. Mikael M. KarlssonMikael M. Karlsson is Professor Emeritus from the University of Iceland where he taught for forty years and where he continues to teach occa-sionally in retirement. He is also currently Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of the Faroe Islands, where he is working on the develop-ment of the University's law programs and where he also occasionally teaches theoretical courses in law. Professor Karlsson's teaching over the years has not been narrowly focused. He has taught courses in the history of philosophy (ancient and modern), moral philosophy, history and philosophy of science, jurisprudence, philosophical psychology, and ancient Chinese philosophy. In recent years, his interests have been coalesced around basic moral theory, questions of agency and causality, cognition, and the nature of legal obligation—subjects which he treats as closely interconnected—and this focus is refl ected in his recent teaching and research.

Transatlanticum. His research concentrates on aest-hetics, particularly the question of „kitsch“ and issues

surrounding Immanuel Kant‘s theories of the beautiful, the sublime, and art. He currently teaches at Emporia

State University in Kansas (USA), where his favorite courses are aesthetics and „Slavery, Revolution, and

God“ (nineteenth-century philosophy). He also has experience in the New York City art and theater world.

Dr. Christian Christrup Kjeldsen is an assistant professor in Educational sociolo-

gy at the Danish School of Education at Aarhus University. Kjeldsen have partici-

pated in a number of EU projects (SocIEtY, WorkAble, VERSO) as well as a Nordic

project I-VET and a number of national projects. All with focus on disadvantaged

youth and their life situations. He is furthermore appointed as an EU expert in

NESSET II. His main research interest is disadvantaged youth and the transition

from school to work as well as between different school types. With a focus on

the barriers and the push-forward factors these transitions have been investiga-

ted. The research is mainly within the perspective of social pedagogy and social

work. The main theoretical interest lies within the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu

and the social normative setting of Martha Nussbaum and Amartya Sen´s Ca-

pability Approach. Methodological his research is conducted as mixed-methods,

but with a special interest in the quantitative methodological development.

Kjeldsen have among others been lecturing the theory of educational sociology,

research methods and international comparative education on the master´s

level in educational sociology.
