Kooiman Coupling Winches, well known in European push boat operations, for fast and sure tow make-up and breakdown of push boats and barges. Once produced and popularized by De Biesbosch-Dordrecht. Now it is Kooiman Marine Group, that produces this well proven design.

The design, materials used and manufacturing, guarantee a trouble-free operation and long life. Nearly all parts are available from stock. Overhaul, maintenance and adjustments can be realised very quickly.

The winches are available in four standard sizes in both left and right hand models, being; 10, 25, 40 and 60, wherein the numbers represent holding power. The winches are entirely assembled out of standard parts, even after many years, maintenance, overhaul or rebuilding is no problem. The wire is tensioned using the large hand wheel. An optional ratchet lever can be delivered with the winch, by which the tension can be increased. Because of the pawl construction, wire slip is not possible. This way re-tensioning is not necessary.

Releasing of the wire is done by pulling the lever of the pawl construction and slightly turning the hand wheel. The pawl will then automatically be released by the weight of the lever. The speed of release and stopping, is controlled by the foot brake. Fast hauling by hand is done by using a plastic handle, which for safety reasons, is positioned between the spokes in a way that it does not protrude outside of the wheel.

The winches are usually manually driven, but can also be delivered hydraulically driven with built-in hydraulic brake. This way the winch can be remotely operated from the bridge.
