PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEPrincipal’s award focus

The focus value for this term is on “Excellence”. Students who are displaying quality work consistently in the classroom and showing outstanding citizenship in the playground will be recognised for this behaviour through the Principal’s awards this term.

Kindergarten 2017 Orientation

This Thursday will see the start to our new Kindergarten orientation program for students starting kinder in 2017. Parents are invited to drop their child off at the kinder rooms from 9.30am and collect them at 11am. The kindergarten teachers have developed a variety of literacy and numeracy activities the students will be engaged in, as well as lots of social games to build strong friendships and to assist in making “big” school less daunting when they commence in 2017. This is a very exciting time for all involved. It is not too late if you haven’t returned your enrolment form and it is also a timely reminder to complete this as soon as possible as it is critical in assisting the school in determining staffing allocation for 2017.

Lost Property

There is a large amount of unclaimed jumpers that have no names. The box was overflowing at the end of term. It is extremely important that all your child’s belongings have their name clearly on it so if items are misplaced they can quickly and easily be returned to their owner. It is also a timely reminder that throughout term 4 all students MUST have a hat on if they wish to play outside, otherwise they will be asked to stay under the top cola area.

Sharing Caring and Playing nicely

As we move into the final busy term that all students are prompted to play and speak nicely to their peers at all times. The school has the very important rule of keeping hands and feet to yourself. We encourage all students to report incidents to the teacher on duty or in the classroom if something has occurred so it can be dealt with quickly and fairly. We trust that you will speak to your child about appropriate play and talk at school so all students can come to school feeling happy, safe and have a great day.

KINDER BLACKBERRIES READING GROUPSKinder Blackberries welcome visitors to the classroom. The room is a buzz during reading groups and we love to

share our reading with children from Stages 2 and 3, our wonderful parent helpers and our amazing community members.

See our smiles in the pictures, that’s because we are having fun while we are learning!

As of Week 2, we will have reading groups on-

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10.50 am - 11.20 am

We always welcome more helpers!

So if you are a parent, grandparent, friend or community member, we’d love to see you in our classroom. Even if you can only make a one off, we’d welcome you to our reading groups. Please sign in at the office prior to coming to our classroom.

Thank you,

Mrs Balding and Kinder Blackberries

BAND UPDATEWelcome to Term Four, I hope everyone is well rested after a very exciting and eventful time last term.

Congratulations again to both the Concert Band on their magnificent efforts at the Sydney Band Festival and the eisteddfod and a massive ‘well done’ to the Junior Band also, who also played exceptionally well at the eisteddfod.

This term is shaping up to be another wonderful and busy term for our bands. Our term ‘kicks off’ with the bands performing at Grandparent’s Day next Friday (with the rehearsal next Tuesday).

Band recruitment night will be happening on Thursday the 10th of November, followed by the Combined Schools Band Day to be held at the Conservatorium of Music. This is a magnificent event where school bands from various public school come together to perform as one large band. It is an event not to miss.

As a part of Band Recruitment, we will be holding a ‘Band Taster Day’ to be held in the school hall from 9:20 until 11:20 on 4th November..

On the 16th of November, our school will be hosting a school band from Macquarie Park, who will be performing for us. Our Concert Band are then invited to participate in a workshop with our visiting students.

On the 24th of November our bands will be utilising their talents to entertain the residents of the Baptist Care Facility. This will be a wonderful learning experience for our band members as they use their talents to bring a

STAGE 2 AND 3 TECH TEAMMr Mark Campbell visited Stage 2 and 3 Tech Team students last week to introduce Arduino basic circuits and programming. The students were very engaged and have begun looking at sketches and projects that they could design and create. At the end of the workshop, Mr Campbell showed how Arduino can be used on a car to program its brake lights.

Mr Damien Candusso visited Stage 3 students last week to share his expertise in sound design. Mr Candusso is a multi-award winning sound designer who has worked on many movies, including Happy Feet, The Lego Movie and The Great Gatsby. little bit of music and happiness into the lives of others.

Finally, our performance calendar ends with the Concert Band performing at the School Presentation evening and then the ever anticipated band reward day will take place sometime in the last two weeks.
