This week, our Kindergarten students participated in a bus safety program conducted by NRMA. Thank you to Tamworth Buslines for assisting our students. By the looks of it the students enjoyed it immensely.

To our families of students in Year 6, please be reminded that the form from the booklet 'Moving into Year 7 in a NSW Government School in 2020' must be completed and submitted to Kootingal Public School by Tuesday 19th March 2019. This document marks the commencement of the high school enrolment process. Please ensure you adhere to the due date as the process becomes more difficult if we don’t.

At times it appears as though I am harping on the same issue. It’s unfortunate but we still have pressing issues associated with safe parking and making appointments with our teachers. I plead with our community to ensure that you do not obstruct the driveway to the staff carpark and adhere to the parking guidelines for the area located just outside the carpark. This area is not nose in parking regardless of the time of day. It is parking with the rear of the car backed up to the fence line. This is so drivers have clear vision of students, parents and teachers when leaving this area.

There is never a problem to see a member of staff at Kootingal Public School. However, it is important appointments are made and not on the spur of the moment. When appointments are made, the member of staff dedicates time to the parent and to the issue at hand. Kootingal Public School is a workplace like all others where appointments are made to see other types of professions. Entering classrooms to speak with a teacher must be conducted at a mutually convenient time.

This week our teachers completed training in the use of the department’s data tool SCOUT. SCOUT is a comprehensive data tool that enables schools to analyse data on whole school, state-wide and individual student levels. This tool holds all information about our students and their external data results from standardised testing such as NAPLAN. As a school, this type of data is only one such data source. While valid, we don’t solely use it within our planning.

During Weeks 10 and 11 this term, Kootingal Public School conducts Parent Teacher Interviews. We have kept the same process as last year with interviews scheduled over the two weeks (two Tuesdays – 2nd April and 9th April) between 4pm and 6pm to cater for families and their increasing demands. Families can schedule the interviews using the School Interviews hyperlink here. The code is 6zrxa. If you have any issues, please contact the school. Please note the option to secure an interview will close 9am each day of the interviews. This is so teachers are aware of appointment times and can plan accordingly.

Parent Teacher Interviews are a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher. We spend a lot of time with our children and we are always willing to talk with you about your child and the progress within the classroom. If you have not been able to schedule an appointment as yet, please do so. Using the School Interviews website is straight forward and you are able to plan your interviews to suit your family.

Good luck to our students competing in zone trials this coming week in soccer and hockey. Also we wish our Open Cricket team all the best as they compete against Tamworth South Public School next Tuesday in the second round of the PSSA Competition. Mr Cracknell and Mrs Blinman have worked each day with our students to assist them in their preparations. Thank you Mr Cracknell and Mrs Blinman and to the parents supporting and assisting with transport of the students.

This week our focus for PBL is on the second of our whole school expectations ‘Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself’. This comes under the core value Safe.

At our Monday afternoon assembly, Miss Kelly recapped last week’s focus of following teacher instructions and asked our students about this week’s expectation. Our children have a wonderful knowledge of our expectations. Well done children!
