The Republic Of Korea is a small country on the far eastern edge of Asia. Seoul is the capital and most important city of South Korea.

History:People have been living in Korea for at least 10,000 years. Archaeologists believe the ancestors of today's Koreans came from Mongolia and Siberia.Korea was colonized by Japan in the early 20th century and later had to endure the Korean War (1950-53), but it has achieved amazing economic growth in a short period, that event was called "the Miracle on the Han River."

What people know about Korea?South Korea has been recognized as an industrialized, developed economy country with some of the world's leading high technology corporations such as Samsung and LG. In recent years, a phenomenon known as the "Korean Wave" (or Hallyu) in which the popularity of South Korean films, novels, television, music, food and other culture aspects has swept most of Asia and many other parts of the world has brought increased attention to the country.

Population:The population of Korea today, both North and South combined, is estimated to be around 70-80 million.

Clothing:In the past, according to social status, Koreans used to dress differently, making clothing an important mark of social rank. Today people in Korea dress much like we do, but on special occasions they dress in the traditional way.

Staple food:Rice is the staple food of Korea. It is eaten with almost every meal. Sometimes it is mixed with vegetables or meats.

Sport:There are also many interesting traditional Korean games. You may have heard of tae kwon do, which is one type of martial arts. Many people in Korea enjoy tae kwon do.

And finally, if you travel to Korea, you should come to Seoul. There are lots of traditional restaurants and festivals in Seoul. Also, you can go hiking in the incredible mountains.You should visit museums and important temples. And if you visit Busan, you should go to Busans beautiful beaches and you can enjoy eat the seafood there. You will meet amazing people.
