Capacity Building Programme, Political Science

Ms. Dipti Chawla

A workshop for Political Science was conducted by CBSE resource-person Ms. Neera Kohli and Director of Ecovisionnaire Mr Amit Arora on Saturday, 4 May 2019 at South Delhi Public School, New Delhi. KIS faculty Ms Dipti Chawla, PGT Political Science attended the workshop and got enriched.

To strengthen students’ capacity for political analysis CBSE has made few changes in the pattern of Question Paper. It has also introduced Practical in Political Science. Before discussing about these changes, Ms Neera put emphasis on developing interest for Political Science among students using innovative and interesting pedagogies. Through different activities she reinforced the teaching community to inculcate certain values, such as sense of belongingness, morality and righteousness, among students. Meanwhile Mr Amit discussed and elaborated on the Blueprint of the Question Paper. He also informed about the objective of CBSE for making all these changes. Typology of questions and drafting of questions were discussed in detail. Later they elaborated on the topics and methodology of Project work. Few topics were also suggested: Role of Oil Prices in world Politics South China Sea Seria Crises Venejuela Crises Cold War 2

Overall it was a brainstorming session. Teachers were suggested to keep their spirits high and bring freshness to their subject by sharing their new ideas and activities.

Accountancy Workshop

On 4th May, 2019, Accountancy Workshop was conducted by CA. (Dr.) G. S. Grewal and Shri R. K. Khosla at Mayoor School, Noida Expressway Noida attended by 164 teachers. It was a very fruitful Workshop in which Changes in Syllabus, Question Paper Design were discussed in detail. Teachers took keen interest in Objective Type Questions. The queries raised by teachers were satisfactorily answered. Objective Type Questions and MCQs were also discussed. The Workshop that started at 9 am finished at 2 pm. Teachers took keen interest in MCQs.

Through the PPT CA (Dr.) G.S. Grewal explained the changes and the new implementations and how the topics can be made easy for the students at the initial level. He emphasized that if any issues or queries are taken up by students, such issues should be tackled by using and explaining the topic by notes and handouts. It was extremely enriching session. The queries resolution was amazing where no query was left unreplied.I am attaching few picture of the workshop.

‘Empowering the Intellect’

KIS Faculty and Admin Staff, Guest Teachers from other schools

Kothari International School was a proud host of the 7th ‘Beyond Teaching’ Workshop by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission- a workshop series exclusively designed for teachers, to help them understand the student’s inner self and inculcate right values to shape them to be better human beings. This workshop was titled as ‘Empowering the Intellect’. The workshop was facilitated by Swami Chidrupananda Ji (Head of Chinmaya Mission Noida).

The workshop was attended by Kothari International School’s Admin and Staff Members as well as around 120 Guest Teachers from other schools from Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi as well as Ghaziabad.

Celebrating Womanhood With Niine Movement

Menstrual Hygiene Management is a subject of silence or a very limited topic of discussion within families. Menstruation is a very important natural body process among women which cannot be avoided. It is a distinct step into womanhood for the adolescent girls. Therefore, it is imperative for every one of them to have awareness about menstrual hygiene. Awareness at the right age can make a big difference in the betterment of their health and hygiene and for the same an interactive workshop was conducted by Ms. Adwitiya Verma under the NIINE FOUNDATION promoting the movement to sensitize the girls of Grades 6-8 in AV Hall on 7th May 2019 about menstruation.

A session with the Grade 11, 12 and CI students was conducted on 7

th May 2019 by the faculty from Queen's University, Belfast.

Professor from Faculty of Engineering ofPhysical Science visited the school on 7th May 2019, students were given hands-on experience of coming up with solutions using robots.It was a very interesting and challenging task and students loved every bit of it. They explained how the teachers and students learn in the university. To demonstrate this, they had prepared an enter interesting activity. The activity was how to control a robot and figuring out how to do so. They divided students into five groups and told them to work as a team since University values teamwork. In the end they demonstrated a video explaining by their universities considerable if you want to do engineering.

Investiture Ceremony

G 5-12 On this memorable occasion of Investiture Ceremony on 10th May 2019 Trustee Dr. Avinash Gupta, Principal Ms. Manju Gupta, Vice Principal Ms. Neerja Chaitly, teachers and students of grades 5 to 12 assembled in the MP Hall of Kothari International School, Noida. First the White Badges Ceremony took place which consisted of the elected representatives for the post of Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Ministers and Deputy Ministers. They were adorned with badges for their future endeavours and achievement which they received with a feeling of pride and satisfaction. Tanusha Rathore and Sanyam Sharma were elected the President of Decorum Society whereas the Citizens’ Society had Vandana Yadav and Anshvi Singh for the same post. Nandini Rathore and Aniruddha Dakwale were the elected Presidents of the Rhetorical Society. The Organizers’ and Writers’ Society had two presidents each. Their names are Chehak Oberoi, Shriya Shivkumar, Shreya Tyagi and Arjun Batra. They bubbled with great enthusiasm showing their willingness to do anything and everything for their school.

The second round of Investiture Ceremony was for the House Badges which comprised the elected Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects of the four houses namely: Nischay, Shakti, Siddhant and Vishwas. The names of Captains are Devanshi Singh, Aastha Chopra, Palak Kapoor and Manasi Thakur for Shakti, Nischay, Vishwas and Siddhant house respectively. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony which inspired them to imbibe leadership qualities and be future leaders of the nation. These leadership skills are to be developed during school days only.

To promote hygienic practices in girls during their menstrual cycle, In collaboration with Life of Vision Foundation, KIS installed a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine in Wellness Room.

Psychology subject teachers – Ms. Nidhi Mehra (Grade 12) and Ms. Megha Sharma (Grade 11) attended the CBSE Capacity Building Workshop for Psychology on 17

th and 18

th May 2019 held at Manav

Rachna International School, Sector 46 Gurugram. The resource person for the same were- Mrs. Anjum & Mrs. Suneetha Panchnatham. The changes in National Curriculum Framework were discussed along-with how these changes are incorporated in teaching Psychology in Senior S Day -2 focused on making lesson plans and question papers keeping in mind the changes recently done in the pattern. The changes were discussed as per the Bloom’s Taxonomy as well secondary. The two day workshop was a great experience and helped in having clarity on various topics. The knowledge level was certainly enhanced and meeting so many people from the same field helped in knowing about various methods which can be incorporated while teaching the subject as well.

Diplomathon 2019 – Conclave

G 6-12 Kothari International School, Noida, played proud host to the annual MUN, Model United Nations assembly on 18th and 19th May, 2019. After several years of active and successful participation in Diplomathon/MUN events, it was indeed a gratifying honour to participate as host school partner to 600 delegates from across 21 schools in the NCR region. The various 19 committees like UNSC, NATO WTO, BRICS, SAARC, MARVEL, HARRY POTTER etc. then proceeded to assemble and discuss various international and national affairs. There were 17 agendas put up for discussion within the various assemblages. The closing ceremony was held on 19th May 2019– Sunday and

this helped round off the successful two day convention of the

youth assembly.A mesmerizing dance performance was presented

by the dancing divas of KIS. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr.

Anil Swarup, retired Chief Secretary Education, MHRD, Govt. of

India. He motivated the gathering with his encouraging and

inspirational words. Distinguished delegates and members of the

teams were given out certificates of participation and awards for

Best Delegates, High Commendation, and Special Mention. Kothari

International School announced the winner and the he first runner

up was DPS Gautam Budh Nagar.
