• Complex rehabilitation of power enterprises and power units
(boilers till 2 650 t/h);
• Development and construction of new power generating facilities
based on CFB boilers (License for CFB boilers from Babcock &
Wilcox, USA) and traditional steam boilers.
• KTP is the only boiler holding in Ukraine which is able to fulfill
such projects, covers market share of about 50% competing with
Russian and European companies.

“Energoprogress”
Created in 1956
During its activity KCDO “Energoprogress” has
successfully implemented its engineering, design
and technological developments for more than 1 000
boilers with steam capacity from 50 to 2 560 t/h and
about 1 100 turbines with capacity from 2 to 1000
MW.
Our directions of work
for 10 years
1. Reconstructions of the boilers for 150/200/300 MWt units in CIS
countries and middle-east.
2. CFB boilers in Ukraine (Babcock&Wilcox technology,look next page).
3. Biomass: 50 CHP with boilers from 5 till 60 t/h in Ukraine.
4. Waste to energy: boilers for WTe power plants in Ukraine.
5. Metallurgical boilers, gas-fired hot water boilers, utility boilers,
hanger-support systems, burners, etc.
Since 1995yr. – License on engineering, manufacturing and supplying of boilers on
IR-CFB B&W technology on the territory of Ukraine and CIS countries;
Successful result of Ukrainian high-ash coal burning in CFB;
Joint studies of innovative IR-CFB boilers;
Negotiations and consultations on level of the Ministry of energy and coal industry of
Ukraine, United States Department of Energy, United States Department of Commerce;
Partnership on technologies with using of biomass and municipal solid waste as a fuel for
energy production.
The program of conversion of Ukrainian gas-fired CHPs to solid fuel burning with
implementation of B&W IR-CFB technology is developed

COAL-FIRING IR-CFB B&W TECHNOLOGY
ON UKRAINIAN CHPs AND TPPs
Licensees on various technologies and joint ventures of B&W in the world.
Kotloturboprom Ltd. is a Licensee of B&W on IR-CFB technology.
IMPLEMNTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY
COAL-FIRING IR-CFB B&W TECHNOLOGY
ON UKRAINIAN CHPs AND TPPs.
ESTIMATED MARKET VOLUME
Kotloturboprom Ltd. jointly with B&W and Ukrainian CHPs have developed and submitted to the Ministry of Energy
and Coal Industry of Ukraine the program of conversion of Ukrainian CHPs from natural gas to coal with
implementation of environmental friendly IR-CFB B&W technology.
Fundamentals of the program:
First stage (maximal substitution of consumption of natural gas on CHPs):
23 IR-CFB steam boilers for 18 CHPs;
Equivalent power of replaced energy equipment: 2.26 GW;
The volume of substituted natural gas: 1.7 bln m3/year;
Approximate necessary investment: $ 1.97 bln;
Second stage (substitution of remained peak-load boilers on CHPs):
Market volume: 35 IR-CFB boilers for CHPs and 55 IR-CFB boilers for TPPs;
Investment: $ 0.8–1.0 bln for CHPs and $ 7.5 – 8.0 bln for TPPs.
Result of implementation of the program:
Maximum substitution of imported Russian natural gas consumption on CHPs;
Real reforms in energy sector. Bankable, cost-effective projects;
Elimination of governmental subsidies and transition to competitive tariff formation;
Decreasing of net cost of heat and electric energy more than 2 times.
Kotloturboprom Ltd. with participation of Ukrainian TPPs have outlined the program of reconstruction of Ukrainian
TPPs by means of replacement of existing dirty, worn-out and obsolete pulverized coal-fired boilers with new
environmental friendly IR-CFB boilers on B&W technology.
Fundamentals of the program of reconstruction of Ukrainian TPPs:
Market volume: 55 IR-CFB boilers for power units of 200 MWe and 300 MWe of Ukrainian TPPs;
Approximate necessary investment: $ 7.5 – 8.0 bln.
5
Various types of biomass for energy
purpose: woody fuel, agricultural residues
(cereal straw, sunflower husk, stalk of
sunflower and corn).
Potential of implementation of new
biomass-fired power plants in Ukraine:
appr. 650 MWe;
Estimated total amount of necessary
investment for biomass-fired power plants
equals to
1 bln. Euro.
