This is the 100th issue of KP-Ezine! How time flies! Since the publication of the first issue in February 2007, the magazine has been steadily growing in terms of the number of subscribers. As of last count, there are over 4000 readers in 63 countries! That is an amazing figure for an Ezine dedicated solely to the Krishnamurti Padhdhati system of astrology. The credit goes to Shri. Kanak Bosmia, Shri. Tin Win and the article contributors. Astrology is part science and part art. Since the time of our Guruji Shri. KSK, many stalwarts have put in their best to elucidate and elaborate on the KP system to make it easier to understand and follow. Many books and articles have been published. KP Ezine continues this tradition by publishing quality and thought-provoking articles on various dimensions of KP. It is a great platform for beginner as well as experienced astrologers to share their ideas. The most remarkable aspect of the KP Ezine is that it is free! Even though it is not printed on paper (and hence printing and distribution costs are eliminated), it nevertheless requires several person-hours to edit, format and render in the final PDF form. This is possible only when the editorial team is highly motivated. To say that both Shri. Kanak Bosmia and Shri. Tin Win are quite passionate and highly dedicated in carrying on this work is stating the obvious. I have a humble suggestion. If it is possible to re-publish some of the articles by eminent students of Shri. KSK from the back issues of Astrology & Athrishta, that would be an eye opener for people starting in KP. The curative power of music emanates from the resonance of certain ragas on hormo-nal and glandular functions which produce secretions that keep the body balanced and in-fection free. It restores, maintains and improves emotional, physiological and psychological well be-ing. The articulation, pitch, tone and specific arrangement of swars (notes) in a particular raga stimulates, alleviates and cures various ailments inducing electro magnetic change in the body. Music therapy has long history dating back to ancient Orphic school in Greece. Pythag-orus, Plato and Aristotle, all were aware of the prophylactic and therapeutic powers of mu-sic. Even the old testament mentions music therapy where King David is said to have cured an illness by playing on the harp. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used music to cure human diseases. In ancient Egypt music was used to lessen the pain of women during childbirth. Sina, a famous Arabic writer, has written in detail on this subject. In India legend has it that Thyagaraja, the famous musician of South India,


brought a dead person back to life by singing the composition Naa Jeevan Dhara in Raga Bihari. In 1729 Richard Browne, a physician wrote the famous text Medicina Musica which describes the use of music as medicine.

Dr. Burnell has mentioned a manuscript named Raga Chikistsa in the collections of Saraswati Mahal Library in Tanjore which deals with the various ragas that can be used for curing various ailments. What is music ? "Music is a kind of inarticulate, unfathomable speech which leads us to the edge of the infinite and lets us for a moment gaze in that" observed Carlyle. Music is basically a sound or nada generating particular vibrations which moves through the medium of ether present in the atmos-phere and effects the human body. Sarangdev mentions in his Sangeet Ratnakar that ahata nada or music is always produced by striking or aghata by a living being on an instrument of any kind So music is a power or universal energy in the form of ragas. Matanga (9-10th centurey AD) was the earliest writer to define raga. According to him "raga is that kind of sound composition consisting of melodic movements which has the effect of coloring the hearts of men." "There are four sources of raga: folk songs, poet-ry, devotional songs of mystics and compositions of classical musicians. While harmony is the characteristic of Western music, Indian music is pure melody. The general term for melody in india is raga or ragini." Symphonies of raga have a definite soothing effect on the mind as well as on the body. Repeated listening to the particular raga being chosen for a particular disease produces a network of sound vibration. The muscles, nerves and the chakras of the affected part are contracted when one impulse is given and relaxed during the in-terval between two impulses. Thus, during contraction of the tissue, musical notes make the blood flow out from that particular area and in the interval there is relaxation and a state of reduced pressure is produced in these areas. Thus the blood from the adjacent area will flow there. This process is repeated again and again and the blood flow and energy flow in that part is enhanced. This makes quick, fast healing. Energy from URF (universal energy field) to HEF (human energy field) transmitted by the strokes of the different tones of raga affects the CNS (Central nervous system) because the roots of the auditory nerves are more widely distributed and have more connections than any


other nerves in the body. Music beats have a very close relationship with heart beats. Music having 70-75 beats per minute equivalent to the normal heart beat of 72 has a very soothing effect. Likewise rhythms which are slower than 72 beats per minute create a positive suspense on the mind and body since the mind body com-plex anticipates that the music will speed up and this restored vital energy gives a deep relaxation to the body. Rhythms which are faster than the heart rate excite and reju-venate the body. Hindustani/Classical musical considers ragas as depicting specific moods. An appropriate mood is to be evoked in the listener's mind before initiating the mu-sical treatment. Kafi Raga evokes a humid, cool, soothing and deep mood while Raga Pooriya Dhansari evokes sweet, deep, heavy, cloudy and stable state of mind. Raga Mishra Mand has a very pleasing refreshing light and sweet touch while Bagashwri arouses a feeling of darkness, stability, depths and calmness. Music is considered the best tranquillizer in modern days of anxiety, tension and high blood pressure. Raga Darbari is considered very effective in easing tension. it is a late night raga composed by Tansen for Akbar to relieve his tension after hectic schedule of the daily court life. This raga belongs to Asavari That and is a complete raga containing all the seven notes. The seven notes are taken from various natural sounds of birds and animals. Raga Bhupali and Todi give tremendous relief to patients of high blood pressure. Raga Ahir-Bhairav is supposed to sustain chords which auto-matically brings down blood pressure. Raga Malkauns and Raga Asawari helps to cure low blood pressure, For heart aliments Raga Chandrakauns is considered very helpful. Raga Tilak-Kamod, Hansdhwani, Kalvati, Durga evoke a very pleasing effect on the nerves. For patients suffering from insomnia and need a peaceful sonorous sleep, Raga Bihag and Bahar have wonderful effects. Ragas are closely related to different parts of the day according to changes in nature and development of a particular emo-tion, mood or sentiment in the human mind. Music therapy treatment is conducted either early morning, evening or night. One should avoid long music session on an empty stomach. Music sessions should be of one hour duration with two or three short sessions with breaks. As indicated in previous pages 72 Melakarthas (English) picture 40 Ragas are connected to Vivadhi nature hence those Ragas are not taken up seriously by many Musicians. Only 32 Ragas were very conducive for exploration by many. These are known as Janaka (Father) Ragas and out of them good Ragas have got Janya (children) Ragas with some modifications or not to the original raga and they are also very well popular and giving good results for the society. The famous Vageyakarakas of South Indian Music are Trimurthis Thyagaraja, Mu-thuswamy Dixitar, Syama Sastry.

It is believed that only in this period tha Raga appears to be at the height of its melodic beauty and majestic splendor. There are some Ragas which are very attractive in the early hours of the mornings, others which appeal in the evenings, yet others which spread their fragrance only near the midnight hour. This connections of time of the day or night, with the Raga or Raginis is based on daily cycle of changes that occur in our own body and mind which are con-stantly undergoing subtle changes in that different moments of the day arouse and stim-ulate different moods and emotions. Each Raga or Ragini is associated with a definite mood or sentiment that nature arouses in human beings. The ancient musicologists were particularly interested in the effects of musical notes, how it affected and enhanced human behaviour. Music had the power to cure, to make you feel happy, sad, disgusted and so on. Extensive re-search was carried out to find out these effects. This formed the basis of time theo-ry as we know it today. It is believed that the human body is dominated by the three Doshas - Kaph, Pitta and Vata. These elements work in a cyclic order of rise and fall during the 24 hour peri-od. Also, the reaction of these three elements differ with the seasons. Hence it is said that performing or listening to a raga at the proper allotted time can affect the health of human beings. Raga Chikista:

Raga Chikitsa, an extinct sanskrit treatise, as its name implies dealt with curative ragas and suggested specific ragas with specific therapeutic and mood enhancing characteristics suggested to be used in clinical settings are still more to be tested and validated. (Varadalakshmi, 1948), (Sairam, 2005). (Sairam, 2006) in his study on designing training methods for the mentally retarded (MR) children prescribed baseline rules for treating MR children as (1) Beta music with rapid fire orchestral rhythms to activate participation and


anger management, to gear up physiological activities and alertness in mind, (2) Alpha mu-sic without rhythms to induce relaxation and (3) repeated rhythmic experience to regulate the wavering emotions and to bring regularity by his experimental observations during mu-sic therapy sessions with mentally retarded children A modified version of the earlier documented raga chikitsa approach evolved by the author using karnatik ragas for music therapy intervention could be used in clinical set ups (Sumathy Sundar, 2006) catering to the individual needs of the clients, taking into consid-eration, factors like music preferences, the listening pattern, the socio-economic back-ground and the level of exposure to classical music. The raga-based approach broadly in-volves application of musical pieces with a specific emphasis on swara patterns, embellish-ments and appropriate rhythms. This approach being both melodic and rhythm depends on the intended music function and the therapeutic objective identified. Raga-s with swara-s having short or long intervals and different embellishments, could be chosen with the ap-propriate slow, medium or fast tempo, with or without technical virtuosity. The applications would vary for different music functions identified a) audio analgesic, anxi-olytic or sedative b) to be stimulating and energizing) to be an active focus of attention etc. Indian music therapy is an integration of ancient healing practices and musical traditions coupled with the recent modifications derived based on the modern day practice and the knowledge gained by current clinical studies undertaken. Indian music therapy is based on long empirical traditions not proven in the western sense of empiricism but it is unique and is cultural and throws open great scope for further prove and studies.

Case of Mr. Dharam Chand Date of Birth: 7 June, 1954, Time of birth: 7.55 pm Place of Birth: Jaipur, Chandpholegate, Rajasthan

Back Ground : In month of January, 2015, wife of Mr. Dharam Chand asked me a question about health of her husband as he was suffering with serious kidney problem and hospitalized. I gave my opinion when he will be discharged from hospital. That prediction came true and that was published in KPEzine Feb, 2015 issue. I also examined this case at that time and found that his demise is expected in month of April, 2015 but I did not inform her. I only replied that April, 2015 will be difficult for her husband. She should pray God for wellbeing of her husband. As the question was related to bad health I observed from Ascendant cusp sub lord to see longevity.

Ascendant Analysis: As per his natal chart the Ascendant cusp sub lord is Venus, the lord of houses 6 and 11, posted in 7th house. Venus is in the star of Jupiter, posted in 7th and owner of 1st and 4th house. Venus is in the sub of Mercury, also posted in 7th house and owner of 7th and 10th houses. No planet is in the stars of Mercury, which is the cuspal sub lord (CSL) of 11th house. Lagna sign is Sagittarius, Maraka and Badhaka Bhava in the case is 7th house. Asc CSL signifies 1,4,6,7,10,11. End of every thing (4), Retirement from the world (10), Maraka and Badhaka (7), disease (6), 11 is positive for discharge from hospital, short recovery making Lagna weak to middle strength that means aproximately 66 years of life. Presently Mr. Dharam Chand is of 68 years which means that he has already crossed that age of 66. So I preferred to analyse houses 6, 8, 12 in reference to KP rules that the 6th house denotes disease, the 8th house indicates fatal disease like cancer, kidney failure, incurable disease and 12th house indicates the isolation or hospitalization. If these houses are connected with Maraka, Badhaka, ascendant, 6, 8 and 12, there may be serious defect or loss of life due to disease.

In this Case: 6th House: cuspal sub lord Venus is owner of 6, 11 and posted in 7, in star of Jupiter, owner of 1,4 and posted in 7, and in sub of Mercury, owner of 7, 10 and posted in 7. Thus 6th CSL is connected to 1,4,6 and Maraka and Badhaka 7th house.

Further more in this analysis I tried to find out most risky period of his life through the rule: if 8th CSL signifies 8, 12 and Maraka and Badhaka bhavas, then during joint dasha of Maraka and Badhaka and significators of 7, 8, 10, 12, native may face danger to his life.

In the present case running joint dasa period is as under:

Dasha of Jupiter (28.12.13 to 28.12.29): Connected to 1,4,7,12

Bukhti of Jupiter (28.12.13 to 15.2.16): Connected to 1,4,7,12

Antar of Venus (15.1.15 to 25.5.15):Connected to Maraka and Badhak 7 and 6,4,1

Sookshma of Saturn (9.4.15 to 29.4.15): This is selected because it is in the star of Rahu and in sub of Jupiter. Rahu represents Mars. Saturn, Rahu and Mars are karaka for risk of death due to disease and they are also connected to 1,4,7,10,12 in this case.

Conclusion for prediction: Most risky period for his life is 9.4.15 to 29.4.15. Later I came to know that he expired on 24.4.15. I was surprised on amazing rules of KP.

The summe Sun has been, up and high, quite early, by first March, and mercilessly heating up the surroundings.it is like having got trapped inside an oven On the 2nd March,2015, a Monday, at 17:18 hours, I had an urge to know when will the Rain-God send His blessings on us, the hapless humans , as rains, to quell the heatI decided to invoke the Ruling Planets to guide me .

The lagna was passing at 119 degrees, 59 minutes, 08 seconds in Kataka rasi, Aslesha star, in the sub-portion ruled by Saturn.

The Moon was at 102 degrees, 08 minutes, 44 seconds: in Kataka rasi, Pushya star and in the sub of Mars.

The ascendant star lord Mercury is aspecting the lagna; it owns the 11th cusp and is a fast moving planet.

The star lord of Moon is Saturn and is casting its aspect on Mercury. The star lord of Moon, Saturn happens to hold the sub portion of lagna as well. Transit Moon will conjunct the lagna point soon. This planetary configuration convinced me that the Rain-God will surely smile very soon and I felt quite happy.

How soon will this very soon be?

The ruling planets were: Lagna: Moon- Mercury Saturn Moon: Moon- Saturn Mars Day lord: Moon.

The very next day is Tuesday, ruled by Mars and star is that of Mercury: Aslesha. Both are in the list of ruling planets.

Will it rain on this day?

Doubtful: Since Saturn holds the sub portion of lagna and the star position of the Moon. The next day will be ruled by the combination of Mercury and Ketu. On the day, at the time of, analysis Ketu was in Pisces in the star of MercurySince Mercury is a strong ruling planet, Ketu standing as a representative for this planet, may precipitate the event. Will it happen on this day?

Doubtful: Since Ketu stands for Jupiter as well for its sign lord, who is in retro motion! Then comes the day ruled by Jupiter and Venus: Jupiter is retrograde while Venus has not appeared in the list of ruling planets. This will not be helpful.

Next comes the day of Venus with Sun for the star lord. Both these planets are not found in the ruling planets list. Hence rain cannot come, on this day too. The next day is ruled by Saturn and star would be Hastha, ruled by Moon. This is the right opportune day. But we have the constellation Uthra bhadrapada, ruled by Sun till about 13:55 hours. .and hence Rain-God will not bless till this time is over.

Unravelling the secrets in the charts of Twin births- An analysis through KP system

It is always a puzzling question for the astrologers to read the charts of the Twin births. Many of us will have this question in our minds that children born at the same time, same date, and same place may be similar in physical appearance but when we notice that their lives are quite different, it will become an enigmatic question. This riddle has been addressed by Vedic astrology and K.P system with equal callidity.

Two different individuals do not usually take birth from the same womb at the same time in exactly the same way except the twins. A mere fractional difference in time will alter the lives of the natives. In Vedic astrology this is addressed by Divisional charts which play an important and deciding role of the variations in the fulfillment of desires, relationships, spiritual enlightenment, past life karma and its effects, next life, the carrying forward , the inner power and purity of soul, name, fame, progeny etc. May be the dexterity of studying and unearthing the secrets depend on the individual astrologers intuitive and analytical capabilities of their brains.

The K.P system has a different approach and is unique in its applications. Here I would like to quote the famous words of Sri K.S Krishnamurthy garu. Again a problem arose to find out why one of the twins get married and the other remain unmarried, in spite of the planets remaining in the same degree and minute and in the same Bhava, same Navanmsa, same Astakavarga, having the same Shadbalaa and everything remaining the same. Then I found that it is the cusp of the 12 houses which vary in twin births and therefore it is the cusp which should indicate whether that house matter will suffer. Every chart has significators.significators can indicate the time. If the cusp denies, the significators cannot give. The cusp sub lord is very vital thus I found out that the only correct Sookshma method is, judging the cusp in each bhava by considering the lord of the Sub in which it has fallen. So though a particular matter is indicated by the constellation of the cusp, it is the cusp sub lord that decides the fructification of that particular matter and that is the specialty of the cusp sub lord in K.P system. Hence the Planet represents the SOURCE, that Planet's Star-Lord represents the EFFECTS and RESULTS and that Planet's Sub-lord gives an idea of the FINAL DIRECTION of that results.

To have a clear understanding about the efficacy of this technique, I would like to discuss the charts of twin sisters, whose particulars are furnished here under.
