The Forgiveness Project
The Startling Discovery of How toOvercome Cancer, Find Health,
and Achieve Peace
Michael S. Barry
All religions value forgiveness,
but only Christianity requires it.
Internalizing anger is destructive to
our spiritual health and can destroy
families, marriages, and even
churches. But what about our physical
health? Is there a relationship betweena spirit of unforgiveness and cancer?
Between forgiveness and healing?
How do you really forgive?
After thorough medical,
theological, and sociological
research and clinical experience
at Cancer Treatment Centers of
America (CTCA), author and pastor
Michael Barry has made a startling
discovery: the immune system and
forgiveness are very much connected.
Through the inspiring stories of ve
cancer patients, Barry helps readers identify—and overcome—the barriers that prevent
healing and peace. See how a breast cancer patient named Jayne experienced spiritual
and physical renewal when she learned to forgive. Meet Cathy whose story illustrates
how forgiveness can positively change relationships. Be inspired by Sharon’s story of
spontaneous remission. With each true account comes proven strategies, tested and used
by CTCA, that readers can implement to nd peace with their past, relief from their
hatefulness, and hope for healing.
Competing titles may talk about forgiveness, but none specically address the
connection between forgiveness and physical health or offer forgiveness as a specic step
toward healing from cancer. The Forgiveness Project presents scientic ndings in easy-
to-understand, accessible language and offers practical steps to help Christians let go of
past wrongs and nd peace.

Conquering the Fear of
Failure Lessons from the Life of Joshua
Erwin W. Lutzer
The fear of failure aficts us all. It
erodes faith, deates courage, and
prevents victorious living. But fear
doesn’t have to haunt us anymore.
In this newly repackaged edition of
his popular book, best-selling author
and beloved pastor Erwin W. Lutzer
offers a healing alternative thatreleases Christians from attitudes of
defeat.
Using lessons from the life
of Joshua, Lutzer teaches what
Christians can do every day to see
the promises of God fullled in
their lives. From learning to listen to
the right voice to living with a bad
decision, from embracing the power
of prayer to overcoming obstacles,
this handbook will guide readers
through the pitfalls of spiritual
growth. “My prayer is that through studying Joshua we all will take one more giant step
toward spiritual maturity,” writes Lutzer. “In the process we shall discover that God is
all-powerful and worthy of our trust.”
Written in the tone that made Lutzer a best-selling author of more than twenty books,
Conquering the Fear of Failure shows readers how to focus on God and His promises,
not upon circumstances or setbacks, so we may live a faith-lled, victorious life.

Sharing Jesus with a ConsumerCulture
Tim Sinclair
The church spends $1.5 million for
every one new follower of Jesus.
Apple sells 26 iPads every minute.
What is it that makes Apple so
exciting and Jesus so boring? What
is it that compels someone to bring
their iPod everywhere and their
Bible nowhere? In a word: marketing.Jesus is a life-changing product with
lousy salespeople—people who are
intimidated and embarrassed by the
word “evangelism” and who show
more enthusiasm for their gadgets
than their God.
What would life look like if we
could market our faith like Nike
and Apple market their products?
Using examples from these and other
successful companies, author Tim
Sinclair challenges Christians to
throw out their casual attitudes toward faith and sign on for a marketing campaign for theSavior.
Other books on evangelism encourage readers to share their faith but fall short of
practical application and fail to address intimidation. Written with the wit and wisdom of
an experienced marketer, Branded peels away the feelings of fear and shows readers how
to share their faith in ways that are creative, effective . . . and fun!

True North
Choosing God in the Frustrationsof Life
Gary Heim and Lisa Heim
“In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the
world.”
(John 16:33 niv)
Every day we face some kind
of frustration: at tires, ooded
basements, wounding words, a broken
body, a troubled marriage—trouble
comes in all shapes and sizes and
can happen when we least expect it.
While everyone struggles, few people
have learned to struggle well. But it’s
not impossible!
Frustrations arise when we look
to people and things of this world
to ll our desires, rather than to the
only One who can really satisfy us.
True North offers a unique, biblical
paradigm that gives understanding
and help to turn to God in the frustrations of life. Frustration often causes us to “gosouth” and react in the esh. We grumble and grasp. God calls us to “go north” and
respond to hardship with wisdom and redemptive love. Combining biblical insight with
personal stories, practical help, and compelling examples, authors Gary and Lisa Heim
encourage readers to turn from self-centered grumbling and grasping to Christ-centered
gratitude and giving. As they read stories of hardships and trials, successes and prots,
readers will see how frustrations can actually help them grow in their personal lives, in
their marriages, in their parenting, and in their ministries.
Believing that learning to live for God through all of life’s frustration is an intentional
activity for every day, the Heims also provide discussion questions at the end of each
chapter to help readers apply biblical truths to situations where frustrations loom. Perfect
for use in ministry settings or as a handbook for personal growth, Truth North shows
readers how to embark on the life-giving adventure of walking with God.

A Passion for the
Fatherless Developing a God-Centered
Ministry to Orphans
Daniel J. Bennett
A Passion for the Fatherless exposes
believers to the Scriptural mandate
to care for orphans, helps them
understand why God has issued that
call, and equips them to joyfully
respond to that call. Bennett provides
a sturdy theological foundation for
a ministry to the disenfranchised—
the orphan—and then shows how
churches can build on these biblical
foundations to implement or improve
an orphan care program and to
equip care-givers. With “how-to”
practicality, this book focuses on
total orphan care ministry and not
just adoption, including a wide range
of activities intended to get the
whole church involved: domestic and
international adoption, foster care, counseling, congregational funding, overseas missiontrips, prayer ministry, and so on. The temptation in a church can be to see orphan care as
a ministry for couples of child-bearing age. This approach fails to make wise use of the
incredible resources of energetic young people, empty-nesters with newfound freedom, or
older saints who have some time with which they desire to be good stewards.
A Passion for the Fatherless includes practical and encouraging stories of how other
churches and believers have cared for orphans, and each chapter contains a study guide
so that a group leader could use the book in a small-group bible study. It encourages the
church to retain “its strong biblical philosophy of ministry while simultaneously being
obedient in so-called social ministries, like orphan care.”
“This book is based on a careful study of what the Bible has to say about [orphan
care] (and the answer, is plenty!), and why we cannot ignore the most helpless and
abandoned of God’s creation without grieving the heart of God. All who are in
Christian ministry should read it and ask: How should we get involved?”

Contextualization in
World Missions Mapping and Assessing
Evangelical Models
A. Scott Moreau
Contextualization is the art of
translating ideas into a particular
situation, place, or culture. It is
fundamental to communication,
which makes contextualization
essential in missions. This textbook
pulls together and maps the variety
of evangelical approaches to
contextualization. Introductory
classes on contextualization and
missionary preparation institutes will
appreciate this valuable textbook.
In section one, Moreau explores
foundations that make it possible
to see the variety of evangelical
models more clearly. He looks at the
ways evangelical models have been
characterized in the literature, and
he highlights the main concerns of evangelicals in their contextualizing efforts. Moreauexplains several guiding ideas and analytic tools that show how evangelicals “lean into”
contextualization.
In section two, Moreau describes how evangelical models of contextualization
can be split into four primary categories based on the directional ow of each: linear,
dialogical, cyclical (spiral or helix), and organic. For each category, Moreau explains
what he mean by the category name, portrays one or more models from the category,
and presents selected contextual practices that evangelicals use which t the category.
This arrangement makes categorization easier than other options and does not frame the
models in ways that bias their evaluation.
Contextualization in World Missionswill guide mission-minded readers to an
informed plan for spreading the gospel effectively. While written with a theoretical
perspective, Contextualization in World Missions also provides real-world examples to
provoke both thought and action.

How Christ Came to
ChurchThe Pastor’s Dream
A Spiritual Autobiography
A. J. Gordon with A. T. Pierson
Scott M. Gibson, editor
A spiritual classic by pastor and
evangelist A. J. Gordon published
just after Gordon’s death in 1895.
This volume tells the story of an
actual dream that Gordon had, and
how dreaming that Jesus attended his
church and heard him preach brought
life to his dead church and electried
his ministry. The issues Gordon
raises and the insights he shares are
relevant to today’s pastor. There is a
conclusion by A. T. Pierson another
world-renowned pastor of his era, who
followed Spurgeon at the Metropolitan
Tabernacle in London.
This edition of A. J. Gordon’s
classic is printed in recognition of the 175th anniversary of Gordon’s birthday and the
125th anniversary of Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. AfterGordon’s story, his closest friend, A. T. Pierson, provides reections on the signicance
of this nineteenth-century leader’s experiences. Also, Scott Gibson, current professor at
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, provides a brief introduction.

The Inuential Leader
John Edmund Haggai
While other books on leadership
focus on methods, which
unfortunately must keep changing as
time goes on, this book focuses on
characteristics that are at the core of
successful leadership and will endure
no matter how times change.
Haggai’s call to strong leadership
looks at 12 characteristics for aspiringleaders, including
• humility
• communication
• vision
• goal setting
• self-control
• opportunity
• staying power
• authority
Readers will learn how they can
become leaders who inuence people,
inspire results, and accomplish great things for God.
“In eighty years I have met hundreds of inuential leaders, of every profession,
from CEOs to heads of state. I have devoured the biographies of past leaders, and
developed and practiced leadership myself as the founder of a globe-encircling
ministry providing advanced leadership training. I can say with assurance that all
great leaders share one dominant characteristic: a particular way of making decisions.
Anyone can learn it. And this book explains how.”
