of the site to make it more attractive and as a landmark building.

The hotel, built on an area of 12375 sq.m., featured a range of rooms from standard rooms to presedential suite. It also has

Banquet halls, all day dine-in restaurant, terrace restaurant, conference halls, etc.

The hotel was built on a rectangular base for two floors with triangular mass rising on it to form striking angles and interesting

mass.

The concept of the design is to group the housing units into clusters

to improve socializing of the public and to create more shared spaces.

The area is divided into four sectors, each having a population of 350 people.

Various ways in which incrementation can happen when choice given to the user.

CONCEPT

Clubbing the two types to form a double storeyed

higher dense community with a probability of incremen-

tal housing.

Spaces are used by people in varied ways, therefore

when addressing a multitude for

developing their spaces it is required to provide them

with spaces that can be transformed

and used in various ways. A simple solution is to provide

a unit with a small terrace.

thisthis can be modified according to their liking, their occu-

pation.

The spaces must be used its maximum and also should

be multifunction in character.

This is very important as the space of each unit is very

sparce. This can ensure that storage

can be done within the house. Overhead compartments

can be provided for spaces such as

kitchenkitchens, etc. The space below beds can also be used

for storage.

Site Plan.

The initial production target of this particular

factory is doubled after four years. Hence the

future development was taken into consider-

ation while designing the factory.

Importance is given more for functional as-

pects of the design, since a factory is purely

purely dependent on its functional efficiency.

The thesis topic of Yamaha Factory is a live

proposal being constructed at sriperambu-

dur, Chennai. The site measures 110 acres

for construction of manufacturing facilities

for production of Yamaha motorcycles.

GENERAL LAYOUT

ROAD APPLICATION PLAN

AFGHANISTAN NATIONALPOLICE HEADQUARTERS

The road application plan shows the centerline of the road with co-ordinates.

It also shows the radius and length of the turnings.

Was actively involved in the detailing of the master plan of Afghan National Police Headquarters at Kand-

hahar, Afghanistan. The master plan consisted of several sets of detailed representations of general layout,

communication plan, electrical, drainage, perimeter, road application, site application and topography

plans.

Working with co-ordinates was an interesting and challenging part of the project with co-ordinates being

specified at all parts of the site in all sets of plans.

TOPOGRAPHY PLAN

GRADING PLAN

While the topography of the site affecting most of the site detailing aspects, the topography has

been changes to a considerable level to increase efficiency.

The slope percentage had to be specified along with the actual and the design topography of

the site along with the site co-ordinates.

The grading plan had to be worked to change the slopes around

the buildings to properly channel the run-off water to the drain points.

The slope percentage had to be specified along with the actual

elevation and the design elevation of the ground.

The undulations in the site made the design interesting with levels dif-

fering at various points.

Being an underground railway station , the station box is divided in three levels, Street

level, Concourse level, Platform level. The entrance structure comprises of staricase

and escalators to lead to the underground structure. It also has vent shafts and ducts

for exhaust from underground levels.

The design of signages for the station was an interesting process since it involved a comprehensive understanding of all parts of the station.

The design process was challenging since a set of standard guidelines was to be adhered in overall mapping and individual signage graphics designing.

A set of plans for the three levels in a station and signage graphics schedule comprised the signage design of the station.

The site is located in Goa, India with a scenic nature as its background. Hence, the design intent was to connect with the outside environment as much as possible. This is achieved by providing long french- style windows and using earthy and neutral colours for furniture. Each villa unit is a cluster of 4 apartment units, each having an innate connection to the surroundings.
