KRISHNA FEST 2020 presented by

VISION AND MISSION: One of the primary purposes of ISKCON as envisioned by our Founder Acharya-HDG AC BHATIVEDANTA SWAMI Prabhupada is to propagate spiritual

and cultural knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in relevant techniques to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real

unity and peace in the world.

Towards achieving this objective, ISKCON Newtown announces annual KRISHNA FEST on auspicious occasion of Sri Krsna Janamastami specifically

aimed at enhancing values and life skills in children through culture related activities.

Giving children access to all kinds of learning experiences is extremely important for their success. Janmashtmi is an occasion to express their skills like

memory, language, imagination and creativity in the service of the Supreme Lord.

It is an amazing platform to discover creative and innovative talent within your child and engage them in service to Lord Krsna.

It has multiple culture-centric events providing systematic, intensive and performance-oriented training in various art forms even as equipping children

with essential life skills and values.

General Guidelines: Participants can participate in maximum two categories. Within a category they can participate in as many events as they like.

Registration charge for each category will be Rs 50.

Registration can be done by filling the offline Form or Google form available online.

Date for all the events is on 8th August 2020.

Relevant material for all the events will be circulated by 31st July 2020.

NOTE: Costumes, materials easily available at home only should be used for all events. We don’t recommend children travelling outside as there is a

potential risk of Covid Infections.

All characters, situations, performances, dialogues, scripts, costumes, etc., should be based on Vedic scriptures only. For a uthenticity, please refer to

books authored by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Results and Awards: The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Krishna Fest final results and prize distribution schedule will be published on our social media channels on 11th August 2020.

No phone calls, e-mails or personal visits will be entertained for queries regarding results.

Prize distribution will be on 12th August 2020.

CATEGORY 1:

ONLINE QUIZ :KRSNA BOOK

There will be an online Quiz based on initial five chapters of Krsna-The Supreme Personality of Godhead Book.

It is open to both Group A (6-9 yrs.)and Group B(10-16yrs)

Test duration will be 1 hour. It will be online.

Questions will be blend of MCQs, Match the following, True False, Put in Sequence, etc. Sequence.

Link for online quiz will open at 10AM, 8th August 2020.

Participants must fill it and submit by 11:00 AM.Link will close at 11:10AM.

In case of tie, decision shall be taken by tie-breaker.

Practice Mock tests will be provided on WhatsApp Group prior to date of test.

CATEGORY 2:DIGITAL PRESENTATION

PHOTOGRAPHY

Rules:

It should be original. Editing is strictly not allowed.

Themes will be provided before 31st July.

One best photos per theme can be submitted. Participation in one or more themes is allowed.

Entry is restricted to original photographs to which the participants hold the rights.

Digitally retouched images shall not be accepted in the competition. However, editing of brightness, contrast levels, curves, color correction, noise reduction and cropping for

composition using any photo editing software is allowed as long as the originality of the photograph is not disturbed.

Image and the subject shall not be mutilated. HDR images are also accepted.

The Organizers shall have the right of reproduction of all the submitted pictures.

Submission

Photograph should be submitted along with the description, story or technique of the photograph through the link that will be provided through our Whatsapp.

Participants must provide high resolution images. Images should be clear and in adequate light. Size of photo should not exceed 10mb.

Judging Criteria: Clarity, Originality, Depiction of Theme, Creativity.

Eligibility Criteria: Participants should be of 12-16 yrs age.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Let Lord Krsna’s message reach far and wide. Give a wonderful shape to your inspiration and imagination to depict a meaningful message to world on

Janamasthmi. Create exciting visual content to communicate the message of Lord in a effective and appealing way.

Design a poster online using Canva/Adobe, etc.

Message conveyed should be in line with teachings of Lord Krsna in Bhagavad Gita and teachings of HDG AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Last date of Submission of entries is 8th August 2020.

Eligibility Criteria: Participants should be of 12-16 yrs age.

Judging Criteria: Creativity, innovation, authenticity and impact of message.

CATEGORY 3: ART AND CRAFT

Drawing and Painting can be a great podium for children to progress and discover their creativity and aids them to acquire hand eye coordination skill s. KRISHNA

FEST provides an opportunity to sketch or paint the God of art, Lord Krishna and there by purify your vision.

PAINTING:

“Lord Krishna” theme need to outline sketch based on a theme from Ramayana, Mahabharata or Bhagavatam;Krishna Lila or Mahaprabhu Lila on

a drawing sheet (and colour it-not compulsory).

Paintings can be PENCIL SHADING or COLOURED.

Size should not exceed 10 mb. Send only one best image of your Art.

Your artwork must be your own original concept ,personally painted and not a copy of anyone else's copyrighted material

(If your image infringes upon another's copyright it will be disqualified)

RANGOLI

Theme: Krishna/ Peacock / Colors of Indian Culture/ Floral. Rangoli art should be less than of 3 ft x 3 ft. Make colourful rangoli designs.

Teams will be responsible for arrangement of the material required to prepare Rangoli. Only Rangoli colors/Flower petals, etc can be used for making Rangoli. The participants will be allowed to refer to any printed material etc. for preparing Rangoli. A group may have not more than three participants.

Mode of Submission: All submissions must be made through a link that will be provided on Whatsapp. Send one best image of rangoli not exceeding 10 mb.


Eligibility: Group A (6-9 yrs) and Group B (10-15 yrs)

Judgement criteria: Creativity, Details and clarity, Composition, Visual Appeal, Color Combination.

PAPER CRAFT

Participants should prepare craft models of Lord Krishna’s paraphernalia using paper, cardboard, etc.,

Participants should use only easily available home items for craft materials.


Eligibility: Group A (6-9 yrs) and Group B (10-15 yrs)

exceeding 10 mb.

Judgement criteria: Creativity, visual appeal and presentation.

CATEGORY 4: THEATRE

Srimad Bhagavatam describes that in the spiritual world, “every step is a dance‟. Krishna is the greatest transcendental dancer, and His dance with the

gopis of Vrindavana enchants the entire existence. A tribute to His love for dance is the Dance competitions of KRISHNA Fest.

SOLO /GROUP DANCE:

Rules:

Duration for Dance:- Max 10 Min

Theme: Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagvatam. Any dance theme from Krsna Lila can be depicted. It should be in line with traditional teachings of Srila

Prabhupada in his books.

Live or recorded music can be used.

Students in a solo or group of max 4 can participate.

Only pure classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam &Kathak depicting a theme from the Puranas will be allowed. (Western styles and film songs will

not be allowed).

FANCY DRESS

Rules:

The kids shall be dressed either as Krishna or Radha or Their Associates In Krsna Lila. Characters like Arjuna, Hanuman and other monsters are also

deeply appreciated. Characters can be based on Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavatam

Costumes and make-up should be appropriate. They should use easily available things at home, as going outside is potentially risky due to Covid

infections.


Eligibility: Age groups 5-9yrs

CATEGORY 5: MUSIC

Lord Narayana declares to SrilaNarada Muni, yatragayanti mad-bhaktah tatra tishthami narada: “Wherever My devotee sings My glories, I take My

residence there, O Narada!”. KRISHNA Fest celebrates the talent of mastering this rich musical form, as an offering to Lord Krishna.

SLOKA RECITATION

Students can chant the shlokas and narrate the translation either in English or Hindi.

Duration: 5min.

Eligibility: Group A(6-9 years) and Group B (10-15 years).

Judgement criteria: Clarity in pronunciation, fluency, meter and synchronization.

Further Information and relevant material (Bhagavad Gita Slokas) will be shared on WhatsApp Group.

No. of Slokas: At least 3 and max 5.

Judgement criteria: Clarity in pronunciation, meter and synchronization, fluency and basic understanding.


MUSIC AND BHAJANS

Rules:

Students in a solo & group of 4(max) can participate. Performance Time limit: (5-6) mins. Accompanying instrumentalists is allowed.

Light Music (Bhajan, Ghazal, Geet related to Krishna/Rama/Hanuman/ Devotees of Vishnu) are only allowed. Judging criteria: Voice Quality, Raga, Bhava, Rhythm Synchronization, Co-ordination and Quality of Performance. Eligibility Criteria: 6-9 years and 10-15 years.

CATEGORY 6: LITERARY EVENTS

Articulation of thoughts into meaningful words is an essential quality that is worth developing in the formative years of education. Here is an

opportunity for your children to exhibit their literary skills and offer it as a birthday gift to Lord Krishna on the occasio n of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

ESSAY WRITING

Rules:

Essay should be written in English or Hindi.

Topics will be provided on your respective Whatsapp groups.

Essay should not exceed 200 words

Eligibility: Age criteria 10-15 yrs.


Judgement criteria: Creativity, Originality, grammatical composition and vocabulary.
