  • Slide 7
  • DOMESTIC ANIMALS: Animals that belong in your home.
  • Slide 8
  • CATS What cat do you think is domestic? The one on the right is a domestic cat! It is also an animal you would want in your home. The one on your left is a type of wild cat, but not an animal you would want to pet or play with.
  • Slide 9
  • All animals need food and water everyday! Other special needs: Cats need a litter box. The litter needs to be changed about every day. The litter itself needs to be changed once a week. Cats need attention, but they can be left alone for hours, for instance it you are at school and your parents are at work. All cats need to go to the veterinarian, just like you need to go to the doctor! They need a check up about every 2 months. ARE CATS GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?
  • Slide 10
  • WHAT ABOUT DOGS? THIS ONE!
  • Slide 11
  • HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT? They need to be trained as puppies They need to go outside They need to be groomed by you!
  • Slide 12
  • CHECKING POINT. WHAT ANIMALS ARE DOMESTIC? A B C D B and C are correct!
  • Slide 13
  • HAMSTERS: Hamsters need a cage with bedding. They must get used to being handled. Hamsters a great pets. However, they are nocturnal. The bedding should be changed weekly Make sure it has exercise toys!
  • Slide 14
  • GUINEA PIGS Tip: They really like a place to stay safe putting little card board boxes in the cage will help them NO, IT IS NOT A HAMSTER. They are a lot bigger than hamsters Also, they are more friendly They need a bigger cage They need to be let out of the cage at least once a day.
  • Slide 15
  • RABBITS The rabbit above is a domestic bunny. This rabbit however, is a wild rabbit. It lives outside, and you may sometimes even see them in your yard. Do not try to pet them or touch them, for they are not domestic.
  • Slide 16
  • RABBITS Rabbits can be in a cage, or you can litter train them. Take your rabbit out doors often. They really like cardboard. You can make them their own little home with it. If in a cage, clean cage once a week and let them out often to keep them happy. Will you take good care of me?
  • Slide 17
  • GOLD FISH Fish are fun to have! You must clean the aquarium tank weekly. They are in a tank, and you can have more than one! You have to pick a certain time to feed them. And how much you feed them is important.
  • Slide 18
  • GECKOS! What you see above is a leopard gecko! It is quite unique and fun to have in your home. They live in empty aquarium. They need bedding and a heat lamp to stay warm. Fun fact- Geckos have no eyelids. They clean their eyes with their tongues.
