Kryton’s Krystol concrete waterproofi ng products are either added directly to the concrete mix or applied to thesurface of concrete. Once added, Krystol chemically reacts with water and unhydrated cement particles to forminsoluble needle-shaped crystals. These crystals fi ll capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete to blockpathways for water and waterborne contaminates. Krystol will continue to give the concrete structure a self-sealingability. If water is reintroduced through a rise in hydrostatic pressure or through hairline cracks, Krystol will initiatefurther crystallisation to ensure permanent waterproof protection. Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to create permanently waterproof concrete.

KIM lowers the permeability of concrete and is used in place of externally applied waterproofi ng membranes. By stopping the transmission of water through concrete, KIM adds durability and longevity to concrete by protecting it against chemical attack and corrosion of reinforcing steel.

How It WorksKIM contains Krystol technology. When added to concrete, Krystol chemically reacts with water and unhydrated cement particles to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fi ll capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete and block the pathways for water and waterborne contaminants. Shotcrete is the preferred material in the construction of many structures from foundations up to tanks and pools and everything in between. Shotcrete is an effective way of saving time and money because it involves half the forming and equipment of regular cast-in-place methods and when you add KIM to the shotcrete mix you combine the waterproofi ng step which:

Tung Ho Steel Plant, TaiwanTung Ho Steel Enterprise is a major steel manufacturing company and they know that steel and water do not mix. The Krystol Leak Repair System is a permanent crystalline waterproofi ng solution used for repairing leaking cracks, holes and joints found in concrete. It reliably stops high water fl ow, even under high-hydrostatic pressure, and outperforms injection systems. Repairing leaks is a simple process that involves preparing a chase by chiselling into the concrete, stopping fl owing water with Krystol Plug, and then fi lling the chase fl ush to the surface with Krystol Repair Grout.

Krystol Bari-Cote is a high-strength crystalline concrete waterproofi ng top coat used to resurface and repair concrete or masonry. Krytonite Swelling Waterstop is specially designed for sealing construction joints in concrete construction. Krytonite is a non-bentonite fl exible hydrophilic rubber swelling waterstop that is fully compatible with Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) Admixture System.

Design Criteria

Hyperstop DB can be installed to either a channel formed in the concrete or directly onto the concrete surface. For quick installation, it is recommended that a relatively smooth surface be provided along the path of the Hyperstop; however a moderate amount of irregularity can be accommodated. Always ensure that there is a minimum of 50mm cover from the edge of the concrete to the face of the Hyperstop DB to prevent concrete blow-outs. Where possible, situate the Hyperstop DB between two rows of reinforcing steel as this will assist in preventing product displacement. Hyperstop DB can withstand a slight amount of initial moisture but once fully immersed, swelling commences shortly after and reaches full expansion in approximately 3 - 7 days, thus placement time of concrete is critical in inclement weather conditions.

Application Instructions

1. Carefully brush off all loose dirt and debris and apply a suitable contact adhesive, a general solvent-based construction adhesive will suit most situations.

2. In addition concrete nails can also be used, but try to use these in conjunction with an adhesive.

3. Using moderate hand pressure, press a continuous roll of Hyperstop DB fi rmly into position, overlap ends approximately 25mm where the strips fi nish.

4. Peel the protective backing from the exposed side of the Hyperstop DB; knead the overlapped ends together to form a continuous, uninterrupted seal.

5. Check to be certain the Hyperstop DB has adhered to the area fully. 6. Placement of concrete can proceed as soon as suffi cient bond of the Hyperstop DB to the concrete has occurred. Care should be taken not to displace the Hyperstop DB during this process.

7. For extremely rough surfaces, use Hyperseal DPS200 to glue down the Hyperseal BR and fi ll up all voids beneath the waterstop.

8. Placement of concrete can proceed as soon as suffi cient bond of the Hyperseal BR to the concrete has occurred. Care should be taken not to displace the Hyperseal BR during this process.

Description

Hyperseal XSeal is a single component, solvent-free, hydrophilic mastic, which is used for sealing smooth and rough construction joints and pipe penetrations. It has an expansion rate of about 310% of its original volume when in contact with water.

Uses

Hyperseal XSeal is suitable for sealing of joints of in-situ cast concrete. It's also used to seal joints between precast segments, manholes, box culverts, cable ducts, penetrations and cold joints below the water table.

Detailing PVC Waterstop



1. Cut conical tip off cartridge end-thread, screw on nozzle and cut to required size. Place Hyperseal XSeal into sealant gun and apply like a conventional sealant.

2. Ensure a minimum of 70mm concrete cover over the Hyperseal XSeal to accommodate swelling pressure, and prevent concrete blow-outs. Minimal coverage is suffi cient for well secured plastic or metal junctions.

3. Extrude a bead approximately 15mm diameter onto the substrate, ensuring that there is no break in the bead.

4. After application, allow 30 minutes curing before the product comes in contact with water. A minimum of 2 to 8 hours (depending on ambient temperature conditions) should be allowed before applying hand-placed concrete and 24 hours for large concrete pours.

Description

Hyperseal D is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) waterstop system which provides a physical barrier to seal in-situ concrete joints. All three Hyperseal D profi les work by increasing the displacement water needs to travel through the joint. The contour of each profi le also ensures the waterstop is secure against structural movement and induces tensions across the whole waterstop section.

Design Criteria

Special consideration needs to be made when using PVC waterstops as the cross-sectional area could interrupt reinforcing bars, pipe penetrations and the like. Concrete placement is vital as wrong positioning and excessive movement of the waterstop could render the system ineffective. Concrete must be fully compacted around the waterstop to ensure no voids or porous areas remain. For positing and formwork details, please refer to our installation guide.

Welding Instructions

For positioning and formwork details, please refer to our installation guide. 1. Preferred positioning of the waterstop is between two rows of reinforcement.

2. Measure the length of waterstop required or feed the waterstop into position through the reinforcement bars; either option will depend on site access.

3. Before trimming allow approx 5 mm to each mating end to allow for melting.

4. Clamp the two ends into their respective sides of the jointing jig, with approximately 10 mm projecting and engage the guide rods.

5. Plug in the welding blade and allow to warm up. Using a small off cut of waterstop, check that the blade reaches a temperature suffi cient to melt the PVC. Ensure the area is well ventilated.

6. When the blade is at melt temperature, place it on edge on the guide rods of the jig between the mating ends of the waterstop and press the waterstop fi rmly against either face of the blade until a molten bead of PVC approx 3mm thick appears along the length of the blade. Slide the jig apart, remove the heating blade and push the waterstop back together holding under pressure for a while which allows the molten PVC to fuse together, you may also need a fl at edge to fi nish off correctly.

7. Imperfections can be touched up with a soldering iron or similar, once joint is complete spray with water to cool.

Description

KGM-125 is a single component, aliphatic polyurethane waterproofi ng top coat which has been formulated as a complementary and compatible top coat for KGM-100. KGM-125 forms a tough, fl exible, seamless, waterproof coating. Description

KGM-425 is a solvent-based primer designed to deeply seal the substrate to achieve maximum adhesion for subsequent coatings. The chemical bond between the KGM-425 and KGM-100 is exceptionally strong. KGM-425 dries by evaporation of the solvent and then cures upon contact with water vapour in the air.

Step 1 - Preparation

Preparation is the essential start to any application. Surfaces must be made good and should be sound, stable, dry, clean and free from contaminants such as dust, loose, fl aking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion.

Step 2 - Priming

Priming is the intial layer applied to the surface to enhance the overall bond to the substrate. Choice of primer will depend on surface porosity, surface contaminates, moisture content of the substrate, location of application (internal or external).

Step 3 - Detailing

Detailing must be carried out around such items as pipes, joints, perimeters, thresholds and may comprise of sealant, bandage or waterbar angles. The extent of the detailing may determine the choice of membrane.

Step 4 - Membrane Application

Each membrane will behave differently on application. Always ensure coverage and curing rates are adhered to. This information can be found on the individual technical data sheets.

Description

Idroplast is a liquid bituminous elastomeric water-based membrane. It is a made from a combination of synthetic resins and special bitumen with mineral fi ller. Uses
