CertificateThe Real Estate Academy awards a certificate from The American University in Cairo upon successful completion of the program. Participants must attend at least 80 percent of the program to receive the Development Program certificate.

Fees• Real Estate Development Program tuition fees for 2018 are SAR 2500. This includes fees for the training program, covering tuition, materials and certificate.

Real estate is a unique industry that requires an understanding of its life cycle and development process. The risks and the rewards. Also to enable a deep understanding of the intersections with the professions that it engages from government policies, citizen engagement as desired or required, architects, accountants, attorneys, civil engineers, contractors, at the city, project, landscape, and building levels. The entire process from acquisition, through design, finance, construction, lease up, marketing and ongoing operations will be discussed. This module will look at the full spectrum of the development process of real estate and lay a foundation for the courses that will come after. Discussions will entail market feasibility and analysis, land acquisition and assembly, financial viability as a necessity but will not entail pro forma building or specific financial return analyses. This module will also look at the larger issues of urban design, master and infrastructure planning and how specific projects are impacted or facilitated by the value of private and public infrastructure investments. This module will also highlight green concepts in real estate and new trends in development towards more environmentally friendly building designs.Case studies will be used from the Egypt in a wide range of contexts, from small projects in senior housing, to large scale master planned communities. Larger Urban Design and Planning case studies will be shared from cities to facilitate discussion of similarities and differences in development around the globe. Other topics will include taxation policies and impacts, as well as social housing and senior housing as it is evolving. Alternative views of the development process, and what is common to the leadership role in the iterative process will be addressed, including the role of persistence, judgment and vision. This course will discuss development processes, including construction management at a high level, and is designed to teach, groom, and equip the real estate professional with a core competency for discussing real estate development with all the various public and private parties involved in major projects. This course is not designed to teach project management software or any other forms of industry-specific construction management content.
