Manager’s Report March 2016

“Joy in Our Town” Guests...

Kenneth Morris talked about incarcerated youth and how absentee fathers are the reason so many kids turn on to drugs and crime. Single moms are left to teach moral values to their children and they just can’t do it without a positive male influence in the family.

Stephen Le, community educator for the Tenants Union of Washington, talked about the different kinds of rental leases and the all-to-often deposit scam.

Erin Summa of the Child Safety Center at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital talked about child safety in the home and how to fit the right auto seat to your child.

Bellevue City Council member and former Mayor Conrad Lee emphasized the im-portance of the Chinese immigration to the Seattle area in the midst of the high tech boom here.

We also interviewed Evangelist Keith Gerner and Pastor Jack McKee of Northern Ireland for future “Seattle Praise the Lord” shows. Jack told how many of the young men in his congregation have been shot to death in the ongoing IRA battles.

Seattle Praise the Lord!

The theme of our March program was “What Is God Doing...in Giving Second Chances?” The program started out that way. But soon the Holy Spirit took over and the topic of suicide and second chances be-came our dominant talking points.

Sam Heredia, Pastor of Victory Outreach Seattle, hosted the program. Guests included a former Mafia runner and Colombian drug cartel member, a veteran of 14 months of intense fire fighting in Vietnam, a mother who died for 12 minutes and came back to life, and a husband who was so into drugs and gangs that his wife declared “it’s either homicide or suicide — you or me.”

Seattle Praise the Lord host, Pastor Sam Heredia, leads an ethnically diverse congregation just north of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

A Russian Mafia member and Colombian drug runner, Capt. Milton Alvarez was contemplating suicide when he saw Nicky Cruz on TBN. He now travels the world as an ambas-sador for Christ.

Ron Brandon served 14 months in Vietnam as a member of Ripley’s Raiders, a Marine unit that was constantly involved in heavy combat.

On the right, Ocieanna Fleiss died of sudden cardiac arrest at

the age of 42. God brought her back to life after flatlining for

12 minutes. She wrote a book about her experience, Love Like

There’s No Tomorrow.

When Kathy and Johnny Heredia’s marriage was just five years old, Kathy was hurting and suicidal. The marriage was falling apart, her husband was a heroin addict and into gang violence. Their lives were totally messed up. Then their baby died of cancer and they both realized there was more to life. That missing ingredient was Jesus. Today they’ve been in the pastoral ministry for 25 years, helping others who have been messed up with the same kinds of things they lived through.

What did God do in all these lives? He gave them a second chance, even when they thought suicide was the only way out.
