I love to travel, pretty much anywhere. Last October, my friend Vicki and I were privileged to travel to Kenya with Global Village Ministries. We were looking for a mission trip which would be a good fit for both of us. She is a nurse, but I wasn’t trained in medical or dental work, and we had no idea what to expect when we signed on. What we found was a wonderful organization that is making a difference in remote villages throughout Kenya. It was the trip of a lifetime for me!! I loved every minute of our trip. I loved it all so much that when we returned, I offered to help Kim in any way that I could. For now, that means I am sharing my experience with anyone who will listen. I’m working on a few fundraising ideas, and submitting grant requests when I find them. When I have the opportunity, I am recruiting dentists, doctors, nurses and regular people like me who just want to make a difference in the world. I am happy to talk to anyone who has questions or just wants to know more about what GVM does. I loved it so much that I am planning on going back to Kenya with my husband on the GVM trip in October. I can’t wait, and I hope you’ll join us! When April rolled around the first term of school finished up, and the secondary girls all came back home for a month’s vacation. During that month the African Inland Church up on the hill behind the home had a Vacation Bible School and the girls were all invited to be a part of it, which they really enjoyed. Now that May has arrived school will begin again and the secondary students are heading back to boarding school for their 2nd term of the year. Evaline, the matron of the home, was able to take some time off and travel back home to Kilgoris. She is such a huge blessing to us and the girls just love her. Imagine being a full time mom to 29 girls ages 5 through 16 years old!

On May 8th Josh Knowles (our contractor/builder) will be meeting with the directors of Educate the Children (ETC) who are building an girls’ secondary school next to the home. The 2 acres that we were given to build the home on is part of the secondary school property, and Josh will be going over our proposed building plans for the guesthouse with them. We would like to ask you to pray for Josh and GVM on that day and ask the Lord to bless the meeting in a very special way. “Bringing Freedom” ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28zbU-XiwQE

Current Projects/Needs

Mosquito Nets ~ we are hoping to purchase mosquito nets for each of the bunk beds. Cost - $120 (cover an entire bunk bed).

Garden/Landscaping ~ we would like to plant some flowers & trees, including fruit trees on the property around THE OLMALAIKA HOME. Approximate cost would be $300.

Mobile Dental Unit ~ we are still hoping to purchase a unit that would enable us to provide restorative dental care. It will cost approximately $5000

Thank you for making a difference ~

JULY 2014 Trip

We really have a great team lined up for the July trip, but we still do not have any dentists. We would love it if you could help us out by spreading the word. There is a huge need for dental in the area we will be in – probably more of a need than any of the other communities we visit on other trips. There is still room for others to join and remember you do not have to be in the medical or dental profession to join us and make a difference.

NOTE: All donations received throughout the

year will be recorded and contribution

statements will be mailed by Jan. 31st

It’s hard to believe I have been back in the States for a month now and my desk is still not cleared off!

I am so very thankful and blessed to be surrounded and supported by an amazing team and wanted to publicly thank them for being passionate about serving others and willing to give of their time and expertise to help make

GVM run smoothly and successfully.
