General Questions 1. What is your drive to continue in AIESEC? Why have you decided to stand for MCVP

position in AIESEC in Ethiopia? What do you expect to take out of this experience?

- AIESEC is that one organization that has given me a purpose in life. Day in day out I

witness the impact that AIESEC has on the society. I believe in what AIESEC stands

for and I want to contribute to that impact. The MC role is the next step in my

AIESEC journey and doing so in another country would prove instrumental in my

learning and growth in AIESEC. I expect to be a better leader, with a wider scope of

vision and understanding of realities around me.

2. What has been your biggest achievement/non achievement in your AIESEC Experience

thus far? Which experience made you learn the most since you joined and what have

you concretely leaned?

- My biggest achievement thus far is acquiring a role on the Communications Team on

the ICB. This opportunity has presented a lot of learning, team work and

collaboration on a global scale.

- My LCP roles gave me the most learning since I joined AIESEC. The role of an LCP

comes with a sense of ownership and a bigger vision for your LC, entity and AIESEC

at large. The ability of foresight, fore planning and better understanding are things I

learnt in this role.

3. How do you connect what you have learned/developed so far in AIESEC with what you

are willing to do in your future? How and why does this MCVP experience connect to

your personal ambition for the future?

- Public speaking, working in a team, leading and managing people and effective

communication are among a few of the skills I have learnt through my engagement

with AIESEC. These are key skills in whichever organization one finds himself or

herself in. These would prove instrumental in the various organizations I seek to

engage myself in with the aim of making a positive societal impact. This MCVP role is

a perfect example of the AIESEC Leadership Model in respect to the various

elements to be developed and the leadership journey one would go through.

4. What aspects of your personality/working style would contribute the most to the MC

team of 15/16? Which are instead the aspects of yourself that could mostly challenge

the team and the experience?

- I am open to ideas and a workaholic. I believe in results and I would strive to ensure

that our goals are met. I believe in a team because it is not just a group of people

working together but a connection of individuals who complement one another and

work towards a common purpose.

Page 3: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

- A workaholic is sometimes a challenge in a team, especially when I take on too much

with the aim of achieving results. At the end of the day, little or midway work is

done instead of the highly impactful one.

5. What are the main challenges you expect to face during your term regarding the

following areas;

a. Your team

The fact that we are a group of different individuals would therefore result in some

level of disagreements due to different opinions and views. The key here however is

to be able to come to a compromise which I am happy to come to provided it is a

mutual and beneficial one.

b. Your work

Ethiopia being a new country to me, I foresee an adjustment issue simply because

the working culture and atmosphere would differ from that of my home country

Ghana. I would however be able to adapt seeing as in the end we would all be

gearing towards making a positive impact on the society we find ourselves in.

c. Your Personal Life

I am an open book and easy to read. The challenge here might be with the family

back home but I now once I am able to have a constant communication network

with them back home, all would be well.

6. Choosing one of the 3 areas below; analyze and write down a possible solution to it.

How would the role you are applying for contribute to a sustainable solution towards it?

a. Members Development in Ethiopia

b. Brand of AIESEC in Ethiopia and the Global Brand

c. Collaborative Environment and mindset AIESEC in Ethiopia – Look at the Local &

Global Level

- Members Development

In every entity there are two major things which need to be sustainable; finance and

members. Member sustainability is very vital in the future of the organization. One

way through which it can occur is through member development. The majority of

activities are carried out by members, they in sense the lifeline of the organization.

Member development as such should be a number one priority for the entity in

order to grow. The development can be achieved through the belief in what AIESEC

stands for as well as the having of strong organizational culture. When one believes,

one can better related and personalize with the organization. A strong

organizational culture is one in which members truly connect and have a sense of

ownership for the organization.

7. With LESS than a year left, how do you see AIESEC 2015 from the day of its inception

until today? What is needed for the organization to achieve its ambition? What is

AIESEC in Ethiopia’s contribution to this? How will the role you are applying for

contribute towards AIESEC 2015 in AIESEC in Ethiopia

- AIESEC 2015 is a mid-term ambition we set in 2012. AIESEC 2015 is basically a status

that we wish to have achieved. The vision has proved instrumental in pushing us as

an organization to scale up our operations and increase our impact. The downside is

that certain programmes are far from being achieved, particularly GIP.

I believe the current behaviours are what is truly needed to help achieve our vision

alongside process standardization. These three behavious, collaborative, purposeful

and action-oriented, have seen the achievement of more goals and I believe if every

entity is to adopt this wholeheartedly, in addition, to making process standardization

a habit we would be able to achieve our goals.

8. What should be the direction of our next mid-term ambition? What will be your

contribution towards it?

- In my opinion, the next direction of our mid-term ambition should be geared

towards our relevance. As an organization, the only way we can continue to exist

and make an impact is if we are needed. I believe a focus on our relevance would

not only help increase our relevance as an organization in the various countries we

find ourselves in, but would also increase our engagement with multiple

stakeholders.

9. Evaluate the impact of AIESEC in Ethiopia 2014/2015 in terms of strategy and

implementation in the national, regional and global network. What should be stared,

stopped and continued in the term 2015/2016 term?

The AIESEC in Ethiopia 2015 vision is collaborating for sustainable, customer centric

and globally positioned AIESEC Ethiopia. In term of strategies, the implementation of

the iGCDP Business Model would go a long way in ensuring a financially sustainable

project. Partnership with Government is also a key strategy because not only does it

give recognition but also it helps in acquiring support for these. The Grants Application

is something I would suggest to be stopped and rather replaces with CSR. This is

because by proposing our projects to companies as a way for the to fulfill their

corporate social responsibility would help build a lasting relationship and also make

them possible iGIP TN takers in the long run should all go well.

10. Analyze the new Leadership Development Model (LDM) in the context of AIESEC in

Ethiopia. How will the new leadership model be embedded in the new customer flow in

Page 5: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

AIESEC in Ethiopia? What in your opinion should be the role of the MC &LCs in this

respectively?

- The new Leadership Development Model spells out what exactly it is we want to

develop in an individual and how we would go about it. We as an organization

believe that the development of three key elements through the inner and outer

journey of leadership would result in the development of a true leader. The new

Customer flow simply spells out the various activities that our major stakeholders

would go through in order to have the satisfaction that we promise through

engagement with AIESEC. Each and every stage of the customer flow should in one

way or another contribute to either or all of the three elements we seek to develop

in an individual; self-awareness, effective communication and care for the world.

The role of MC’s and LCs in this is to ensure that our various stakeholders at the end

connect with us and feel that we are a customer centric organization and must have

the development of the three elements at the end of their engagement with us.

Role Specific Question 1. Describe your three top achievements in iGCDP (Within or without AIESEC)

- 50% growth in iGCDP every subsequent year in my LC as LCP.

Each conservative year saw an increase of more than 50% in realization as against

the previous year.

- Recognition as the best in delivery.

AIESEC CUCG is noted to be the local committee in Ghana which delivers high quality

experience to interns, as such, making them promoters of the organization.

- Model LC

AIESEC CUCG again is seen as a model LC and has partnered with a number of Local

committees.

2. Analyze exiting AIESEC in Ethiopia projects with regards to each LC. Which national

projects would you like to focus on your possible term and why? How would you

package them to attract investment from AIESEC entities.

- The beginning of the year was quite slow in terms of iGCDP realizations. 3 out of 5

LCs had their projects running during the Summer Peak period. The national I would

like to focus on for my term would be the Yes 2.0. The major reason behind this is

the fact that according to the 14.15 plan, this project is to be run in al LCs. It was also

planned to yield the highest realizations, i.e 20. A project run in all LCs is very

instrumental in member engagement and development as well as increased societal

impact.

Page 6: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

3. Using the Ethiopian Growth Transformational plans or other directive you know, design

a non-corporate strategy for AIESEC in Ethiopia to grow GCDP realizations and increase

impact within the Ethiopian Society.

- A non-corporate strategy would involve member engagement. The projects have

been set but interns are needed. One strategy to grow realizations is referrals. The

showcasing and promoting of referrals go a long way to increase the number of

people who would patronize a project.

4. Analyze the standards and satisfaction elements and write down your strategies to

implement them in AIESEC in Ethiopia. Lay emphasis on accommodation for your

interns.

- The major elements of standards and satisfaction are logistics, job, living and

experience & learning. These four major elements are very vital and crucial in

ensuring that the experiences we deliver able to deliver a certain standard as

promised.

The major strategy I would use to implement them is making S & S a habit, where

members are made to understand that these are not something one must try to

enforce but are things one must ensure are carried out. In addition, period

education through simple videos and illustrations would be also used to relay the

message across.

Accommodation is a major concern. The acquisition of suitable living condition is a

major priority. Acquisition of homes and hostels in a major strategy and this would

be financed mainly through partnerships.

5. Describe the action steps to scale up iGCDP raised and realized by LCs of AIESEC in

Ethiopia.

- The first step would be education on process standardization. Once the message is

gotten across we know the knowledge is through.

- The next major step is to explore more venues for projects; tackle major issues

present in the country at the time. Once an issue is identified it can be packaged and

sold as a CSR to corporation who share an interest.

- The major role of these organizations would be to provide the necessary resources

needed, in this case accommodation mainly and other resources such as

transportation and stationary to run the projects.

6. Choose a ministry in Ethiopia and write a proposal to minister about a possible project.

What will be the key value proposition and what will be the investments needed from

the ministry?

Page 7: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

Proposal for Project.

AIESEC is a global, independent, non-political, non-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduate of higher institution. It is present in over 128 countries and territories and with over 100,000 members. AIESEC is the world’s largest youth run organization. Its primary focus is providing a platform for youth leadership development. AIESEC gives young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world and to get the experience and skills needed in the present day professional world. I write letter to you today to propose a project dubbed ‘Summer Impact’. This project is a literacy project and is to provide assistance in the provision of literacy in English, Mathematic, General Science, General Knowledge and any other subject which would help contribute to the development of the children in the community. Currently we are present in 5 Local Committees and 1 Expansion Initiative were we run our programs. The project, Summer Impact, is one which we would like to run in all of areas we are present in, thereby making it a National Project. Value to you

1. Recognition as a ministry which not only cares about the wellbeing of those in the educational sector but also invests into leadership development.

2. Branding on all our posters thereby creating more awareness of the Ministry and what you do.

Investments needed

1. Financial support in the form of provision of accommodation for interns, transportation allowance to site and educational materials for the teaching and learning process.

2. Partnership agreement with Ministry so as to get the school involved and committed in helping ensure the success of the project.

7. Choose and analyze 3 possible entity partners of AIESEC in Ethiopia for the term 15/16

term. Why did you choose these entities and which kind of issues would you like to

partner on?

- These entities are Kenya, Tanzania and MoC. Kenya and Tanzania are both entities

within the sub-region, as such, exchange amongst us would not only be relatively

easy but would be also less complicated seeing as the individuals are fellow Africans.

MoC because China is recorded to have one of the highest oGCDP’s in the network.

As such, capitalizing on their strengths would prove instrumental in growing our

entity.

Page 8: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

8. What are your strategies in terms of bringing iGCDP sustainability for the 15/16 term?

Write down the possible synergies you see happening. How would your role in AIESEC in

Ethiopia contribute towards the growth of the East African Sub-Region?

- In terms of sustainability my major strategy to ensure this is national projects being

run as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The reason behind this is that these

corporations have the means to provide the necessary resources needed to ensure

the success of the project. The synergies I see happening are majorly between iGCDP

& TM, iGCDP & MAC, iGCDP & BD. Talent Management for the provision of the right

talent capacity, Marketing and Communications for the market research and

promotion of opportunities once they have been established and Business

Development for the establishment of an agreement between the entity and the

would be cooperation, to create the MoU and other documents needed to make the

agreement solid.

9. Design a LEAD document for implementation in all LCs for interns.

LEAD FOR INTERNS Key Elements to develop

LEAD for interns is designed to help interns develop their leadership potential in an

active and practical environment.

The activities involved would include 9 major steps

Pre-Orientation Day; online interact with interns before they arrive.

I & Myself

• Self-Awareness• Here the one

acknowledges ones self

• Build self confidence

I & Others

• Empowering Others

• Working together with others

• Communicate effectively

• Be active to share and learn

I & the world

• World Citizen

• Understand the environment we live

in.

• Be able to identify and address key social

issues

Page 9: Kweku Boatin MCVP 15/16 Application

Orientation Day; this day is a physical integration of interns once they arrive into the

country.

Persona Goal Setting Meeting; here interns are able to set their goals and what they

expect at the end of the internship.

Cultural Discovery; here interns get to earn about different cultures through various

activities; cook day, show and tell, photo day.

Performance and participation; interns are to be engaged in every single activity that

the LC and group participate in.

Half-way evaluation; this is done half way through the experience. Here interns make

an assessment on what has been happening thus far.

Active citizen; here interns fully understand the scope of what they came to achieve and

are actively involved in making a huge societal impact.

Final Evaluation; interns make an assessment of their experience thus far; their

learning, their impact.

Showcase our impact; the portfolio would showcase the impact made thus far by the

interns.

10. If you were to ask a question to an applicant for this role, what would be that question

and what would be the ideal answer you would be looking to hear?

- What are standards?

- Standards are a culture, a habit that we as an entity need to adopt and live in order

to deliver high satisfaction to our various stakeholders. They ensure the continuity of

the organization through strengthening our products thereby ensuring maximum

satisfaction of our stakeholders.
