1. What is Kybella?

Kybella is a medication that melts fat cells. This is then excreted by the body.

2. What areas can be treated with Kybella?

It is FDA approved for use in the submental (neck) region, also known as the "double chin"

3. Are there any off-label uses for Kybella? If so, are they safe?

Yes, I have safely used the generic form deoxycholic acid to treat unwanted fat deposits elsewhere in

the face, abdomen, thigh and arms.

4. Kybella vs. liposuction for double chin? Which would you recommend and what is the difference?

I prefer using smartlipo or laser liposuction to provide skin tightening in addition to removing fat.

There's typically three to five days downtime with a surgical procedure even though it's performed

under local anesthesia.

5. What is recovery like for Kybella injections?

A patient can expect a few days of swelling, but can return to normal activities the next day.

6. How long do results from Kybella injections last?

Dissolved fat cells are permanently removed.

7. What do I do if I gain weight after using Kybella?

The remainder of the fat cells can get larger. They may be treated with Kybella as well. Of course a

sensible diet and exercise should be used in conjunction with this treatment.

8. Are Kybella injections painful?

Minimal discomfort is relieved by local anesthetic use.

9. How long is a Kybella treatment?

On average about 20 to 30 minutes depending on the areas treated.

10. How many Kybella treatments do I need to see results?

On average 2 to 3 treatments are necessary, a consultation would be essential to provide direction

towards the amount of injection and the number of sessions needed.
