YEAR 12 HSC Study Day The Year 12 Business Studies class took the opportunity to attend the Graham Roll HSC Study Day at the Lismore Workers Club during the last week of Term 2. The day covered all aspects of the HSC course and how to best prepare responses for the 3 hour paper; including multiple choice questions, short –answer responses, the business report and their extended response essay. The students were able to build on their understanding and gained insight as to the expectations of the 3 hour HSC paper. The class will sit their Business Studies exam on October 25th, I wish them all the best on their big day. Mr. Quantrill

Business Studies Teacher

Principal’s Report Welcome back to everyone from holidays and I hope you are all really for a very full term of academic, cultural and sporting activities! Please find as an insert to this newsletter a term calendar so that you have advanced notice of some of the planned activities, especially exams, for this term. One of the highlights of being relieving Principal has been the Senior and Junior Academic Awards Assemblies held at the end of last term and the end of last week respectively. I was incredibly proud of the number of students receiving recognition, not only for first and second place but importantly, consistent effort and improvement. I would like to thank Mr Michael Donnelly who represented the P&C at both assemblies, Mr Malcolm Wallis, Kyogle Tourism Economic Development Office who presented awards at the Senior Assembly and Mr Peter Campbell, our Education Director who attended the Junior Awards Assembly. Thank you as well to the students who performed at the assemblies under the excellent tutorage of Mr Joseph O’Keeffe. Year 12 students are counting down the days until they finish school. For most of their courses they are heavily into revision and this needs to be supported by an effective home study program. Students must plan their time to ensure they have a healthy balance of study, recreation, work and family time. Regular meals and exercise are also important for students to achieve their personal best. There is support available at school if any student needs help with a study timetable or just someone to talk to about the pressure they may be experiencing. We would love to print our newsletters in colour every week especially when we have fabulous photos of our students representing the school on the front page. However , as I am sure you can appreciate, the cost of doing this is prohibitive but we are happy to email out the newsletter to our ever growing email distribution list for parents, carers and even grandparents! If you would like to be added to our email list to receive the newsletter, please contact the Front Office at Kyogle High School on 66 32 1300. With many of our senior students driving to school it is important that they stay safe. YouthSafe an organisation dedicated to preventing serious injury in young people aged 15 to 25 years, has developed resources for parents on how they can help their children become safer drivers. To download the fact sheet and for further information go to: http://www.youthsafe.org/publications-resources/resources-for-parents/42-publications-a-resources/resource-parents.html Have a great week!!
