Welcome to Sam, who will be joining us as our Project Manager
I began my career at Edgehill University studying Dance, Drama and Design, this opened an interest into how the arts can create positive impacts in "the real world".
Once graduating I became a Creative Facilitator delivering and creating art based workshops around the UK which tackled the national curriculum throughout primary and secondary schools.
After becoming a mum, to my now toddler, I began to focus on local secondary schools as a Project coordinator and Youth Mentor Facilitator. I delivered mentoring sessions with
vulnerable teenagers based on employability skills and social action projects.
From working with children to teens my career organically fell into a passion of wanted to support adults, in particular fellow women. I am proud that my experience will be developing further with helping people at Kyra Women's Project! Best wishes, Sam

We are delighted iMUSE will be joining us once a month
iMUSE provides a space where you can relax, forget the outside world and feel stress and anxiety reduce.iMUSE uses interactive technology to help participants experience:
1. Relaxation – a vibrating mattress gently massages the body. Combined with deep breathing and other relaxation techniques, this calms and focuses the mind, relaxes muscle tone and reduces anxiety and stress.
2. Music Making – you don’t have to have any previous musical experience to compose your own music with iMUSE. Motion sensors detect your movements and turn them into sounds that can relax and lift your mood.
3. Creating visuals –a microphone picks up sounds and iMUSE transforms them into graphics and projects them into the iMUSE space.
Each session lasts for 30 minutes. Our facilitator works with you to find out which sounds, music, and visuals help you to relax and focus. They then use these to personalise your iMUSE experience so it’s tailor-made for you.
Who benefits from iMUSE?
• Anyone who responds to and enjoys music and sound.
• Anyone looking for a creative, interactive or therapeutic activity designed to enhance wellbeing.
• People who experience anxiety, stress, discomfort and pain.

Take it in your stride So.... the Walking Group is slowly building momentum. We had fabulous winter sunshine for the two January walks. Seven members did the 3 miler along the river and through Bootham Hospital grounds and back. And three members bravely trod through the mud and did the 5 mile circular to Walmgate Stray. It was just like being in the country! What about joining us for the February walks for a breath of fresh air and a bit of chat? Walking is compulsory: talking is not! Saturday Feb 29th (Leap Year Walk) meet at 10.00. Leave at 10.15 am - 5 miles - and return in time to join in with the Shared Lunch. And if you like being super-organised and want the March dates here they are: Saturday 21st March 5 miles If you would like to come along please email [email protected] so we know who to expect. See you there - whatever the weather!

In cases where Domestic Abuse has been a feature or there are concerns for a child’s welfare, I can sometimes obtain a Non Molestation Order or an order regarding a child for a client on an emergency basis where necessary. Crombie Wilkinson also continues to offer Legal Help/ Aid to those clients who qualify so I can also assess clients for Legal Help/Aid as and when the need arises.
I am available on the first Thursday of the month between 10am and 12pm at KYRA to offer a free initial appointment for anyone who wishes to call in. Or if you would like to make an appointment in advance during these hours, please contact KYRA or my office on 01904 624185. Alternatively, if these times are not convenient, I am happy to meet with you at our office. Again, please contact us on the number above to arrange an initial free appointment. Best wishes, Juliette Kilkenny
