SHARE THE VIEW International Nature Photography ContestThe 2014 Share the View International Nature Photography Contest, sponsored by the Audubon Society of Greater Denver, is now accepting entries. Visit the contest website http://denveraudubon.contestvenue.com to see last year’s winners and submit your entries for this year. Photographers who have created an account on the contest website by December 1 will be able to continue submitting photos until December 5. Entry period: October 15 - December 1, 2014.

In February of this year our Club hosted, at it’s TWE meeting venue, the Audubon event celebrating Colorado photographers that participated in the STV competition. It is unclear at present what arrangements for a similar event may take place to recognize the winners of the 2014 competition. Our club has voted to participate in promoting such an event if it does take place.

Last year 24 photographers from MHWPC entered Share The View and all had entries among the semi-finalists; 18 had entries selected to be displayed with other Top 250 highly commended images on the Share the View website. Member, Fi Rust, won First and Second Prizes. Let’s see if we can do even better this year!

Karen Fiant’s photograph, Nursing Cape Fur Seal [Cape Cross Seal Reserve - Skeleton Coast, Namibia] was among the Top 250 highly commended imagesin the 2013 Share The View International Contest.

Flickr Group MHWPC has set up a Flickr group that can be used by any member that would

like to get comments or critiques on images. This is set up as a public group so anyone with a Flickr account can post to it, if you do not have a Flickr account you can set one up for free at http://www.flickr.com. Once you have a Flicker account find the group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/mhwpc/, then, join the group and feel free to post constructive comments and/or add photos you wish to have comments on. Since this is a public site, as a safe guard we have moderators to check for any content not consistent with appropriate club postings. We do ask that images that may be submitted for a future club competition entry not be put on the group site, this is to protect the anonymity of the photographer. Feedback on the Flickr site is encouraged.

Build Community Through Your InvolvementAll MHWPC members are invited to participate in club field trips. Field trips are wonderful opportunities for taking the club experience to the field and sharing knowledge that may help you expand your photography skills. This is a good way to meet other club members, set up mentoring goals or just share the moment photographing with others that have a common interest.

Any club member is welcome to coordinate a field trip simply through choosing a destination, arranging a time and place to meet, and making the announcement to club members. Your involvement builds community.

If you would like to organize a field trip please contact MHWPC Field Trip and Mentoring team lead, Bob Cross at [email protected].
