WASTE COLLECTION CALENDARFROM 15th NOVEMBER 2021 TO 31th DECEMBER

“But why don’t you put the dumpsters back on the streets?”

This question has been asked in more than one occasion by the citizens, espe-cially among those that found themselves displaced in the hurried introductionof the “door-to-door” waste service and the consequent arising of many criticalissues, both technical-operational and of compatibility with families’ everydaylife. The current legislation rightly obliges us to increase the percentage of sep-arated waste, and today the “door-to-door” collection is the only one, accordingto the data, capable of guaranteeing the achievement of this goal. Our Admin-istration immediately addressed all the problems that exasperated so manyLeghorn citizens for months. Together with AAMPS, we started an important anddetailed process of reviewing the service attentive to the environment sustain-ability and to the Company’s accounts. Now the common effort should be di-rected to promote the correct disposal of waste and to reduce the production ofnon-recyclable waste to a minimum. In addition to the novelty of the waste col-lection service, we would like to remind you that AAMPS offers additional freeservices. Among these the Collection Centers, the Center for Creative Re-use,the mobile Environment Center, the mobile Ecological Points, the Sgomberatutto(Clear Everything Out). A substantial package of opportunities contributing tomake Leghorn even more beautiful and virtuous both on the environmental sideand on the urban hygiene and decor.

The re-organization of the waste collection services is the result of intense,continuous, and passionate work that our technicians carried out resortingalso to YOUR precious suggestions. The days and times of exposition andwaste collection have been optimized and are more compatible with the fam-ilies’ daily needs. In this way, we believe to perceive the city’s satisfaction,and at the same time, increase the percentage of separated waste with anever-greater quality in line with the European, national and regional disposi-tions that point to:

- reduce consumption of natural resources- give new life to used materials- promote the correct disposal of dangerous and hazardous waste- avoid the emergence of new dumps in order to protect the

We could have elaborated a “traditional” calendar without anyfrills, as they say. It would have been enough to indicate thedays and times of exposition and add some beautiful photos,perhaps of our marvelous landscapes and give basic indications

on the services offered to the citizens. Instead, since we are Leghorn citizens,once again we decided to exaggerate! Our hope is that you use this instrumentto correctly separate the waste but, at the same time, understand it as an invi-tation to dive into Leghorn’s vitality made of irony, wisdom and lightheartedness,as well as passion, courage and solidarity, typical of our culture. With AAMPS,waste comes to life, talks to us and whispers. They tell us where they want to bedisposed and, at the same time, remind us who we are and where we comefrom. An extraordinary 14-month trip is born to share with some of the most im-portant local artists and comedians that want to tell in “nutshells”, with enthusi-asm and emotion, the identity and roots of our land and sea, re-interpretingevents and characters that really happened and existed in Leghorn.

NO plasticized paper for cold cuts, paper for oven and fish, receipts.

MULTI-MATERIAL - Plastic and Metal packagingYES plastic packaging for liquids (e.g. bottles, containers, yogurt cups), plastic and polystyrene containers for food, composite packaging, plastic wraps (e.g., shoppers), fruit and vegetable nets, aluminum and steel containers (e.g., cans, spray cans, containers, tubes, lids and capsules), Tetra Pak, Tetra Brik, Tetra Top (e.g., containers for milk, milk cream, fruit juice), plastic boxes, plastic dishes and cups without organic remains, plastic and metal lids, plastic snack packaging, empty spray cans for domestic or personal use.

ORGANIC - Kitchen leftoversYES leftover pasta, rice, fish, meat, fruit peelings; cut flowers, tea and herbal bags, eggshells, fruit/vegetable scraps, biodegradable pet litters, organic dirty paper napkins and tissues, paper and cardboard with leftover food (e.g., pizza box), biodegradable cutlery and bags. Garden waste is collected at home and free of charge: call toll-free telephone number 800-031.266.NO products that are not of plant or animal origin, clothes, liquid food, nonbiodegradable pet litters, nonbiodegradable diapers and sanitary pads wipes, crustacean shells.

Please note: In June, July and August the collection changes from twice a week to three times a week. Option valid for users that place bins out for collection.

GLASS - ContainersYES bottles, jars, glass containers (emptied and with no lid).

NO objects in crystal, light bulbs and neon tubes (incandescent and energy-saving type), porcelain or pottery objects, mirrors, glass sheets, Pyrex, metal or plastic lids, laminated glass, wired glass, lead glass, crystal glasses and pitchers, ceramic/glass plates, metal and plastic, caps, crowns, and corks.

NON-RECYCABLE WASTEYES sanitary pads, waxed paper, pens and felt tips, rubbers, toothbrushes, make-up, small crystal, ceramic, plastic objects, vacuum cleaner bags, razors, excrement.

NO recyclable materials (food scraps, paper and Tetra Pak, metal, plastic and glass packing) batteries and used car batteries, toxic material, pieces of plaster, bulky waste (even if dismantled), small household appliances, drugs.

SANT’JACOPO - MARRADI Area Household Users


The new “door-to-door” waste collection service concerns around 130,000 habitants.

The routes have been reviewed favoring the traffic of the company’s vehicles with a timetable more functionalto the needs of the families.

The municipality’s territory is divided in 7 new macro areas (instead of 17, as previously established) subdividedper name and combined with a color among those conventionally indicated in the rainbow:

The “Pentagono” and “Centro Allargato” area are excluded due to density of the population and urbanconformation, and need a “combined service” supported by street dumpsters.Differently from paper-cardboard, multi material, organic, and non recyclable the gLASS fraction is todaycollected exclusively in the afternoons (an experimentation is underway to progressively install streetdumpster in all the city’s districts).
