Dear Parents and Students,
A successful year here at Fisher Middle School is drawing to a close. It is amazing
how much has been achieved by the students, staff, and parents in one year. The
achievements extend from the academic, to the sporting and the creative arts and to the
many enjoyable and fundraising successes of the Fisher Parent Association (FPA). As
my first year as Principal of Fisher Middle School comes to a conclusion, I can say I
am honored and proud to be a part of the Fisher family and have enjoyed working with all the students,
parents, and teachers tremendously. It is also my hope that all of you can join us for the end-of-year
activities that have been highlighted in this newsletter.
Regards,
Dr. Maggy Hanna
FMS Principal

According to the New Jersey Department of Education, student bullying has received increased attention
as a serious problem in schools. The importance of protecting students from bullying has been emphasized
through the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (ABR) that became a law in New Jersey in January 2011.
FMS has taken a strong stand against all acts of Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB). In conjunc-
tion with the guidance department, Respect Week & School Violence Awareness Week are two school
wide activities designed to address HIB. Additionally, classroom lessons such as "Stand Up to Bullying"
and "Choose Respect" have been conducted by the Dean of Students. Also, the FMS School Safety Team
has collaborated with FMS Guidance and will facilitate group meetings with students to address student
HIB concerns. Student Council is also working on a program titled, "If You Knew Me". Addi-
tional information regarding HIB policies can be found

REMINDERS:
Dress Code:
With the warm weather approaching, this is a
good time to remind everyone of the Dress Code
Policy. No revealing shirts of any kind, shorts
and skirts must be fingertip length, and the belt
area of pants must be worn at the waist. Basi-
cally, the code indicates that appropriate attire is
required in school at all times. All interpretations
and decisions on the school dress policy are to be
made by the administrators, consistent with the
criteria set forth. If a student is found in violation
of the Dress Code Policy, a phone call will be
made to the parent to bring in a change of cloth-
ing or the student will be sent to the nurse to
change. The policy can be found in the student
handbook.

Fisher Middle School’s Performing Arts Club will be performing Disney's "Aladdin Jr." on Thursday,
April 19th; Friday, April 20th; and Saturday, April 21st at 6:30 pm, with an additional matinee show at
2:00 pm on Saturday, April 21st.
Like Disney's rendition, this shortened version of Aladdin takes place in Agrabah, City of Enchantment,
and focuses on a love tale between "street rat" Aladdin and Princess Jasmine. The show includes Disney's
lovable characters such as Genie and Aladdin's furry accomplice, Abu, as well as the villainous Jafar with
his snarky parrot-in-crime, Iago. The show also includes beloved songs such as "Friend Like Me", “Prince
Ali”, and "A Whole New World."
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online (the link will be posted on the district website once avail-
able). Tickets also can be purchased at the door one hour before the performance begins. All tickets are $8.
All seats are reserved.
