THE MORECAMBE TERN“The Morecambe Tern” is not a new species. It refers to the Tern Project on Morecambe seafront that was developed by Lancaster City Council, starting in 1994. This is a major programme of public art that celebrates Morecambe’s birds, wildlife and scenic views across to the Lakeland hills. Sculptures on these themes have been spread along the seafront on Marine Drive Central from The Platform to the RNLI shop, including several on the Stone Jetty out into the Bay. Associated with the sculptures is “The Flock of Words” and the Eric Morecambe Stage, which are the themes of other photo guides in this series.
