ENABLE EFFECTIVE NETWORK CONNECTIONS IN YOUR SAN ENVIRONMENT The EMC® Connectrix® family of directors and switches moves your business’s vital information to where it’s needed. EMC helps you build a tailored solution to effectively lower total cost of ownership through consolidation; connect servers and isolated SAN islands; optimize performance and response time; and simplify data protection, backup, and recovery. Connectrix is the only storage networking platform that offers the widest range of connectivity options, guaranteed interoperability with EMC E-Lab™ testing, and utilizes best-in-class management tools—without sacrificing availability or performance.

EMC Connectrix: connect as needed with flexibility and reliability The EMC Connectrix family lets you start small and scale as you grow--whether you begin by implementing a small SAN for one department or a large SAN for an enterprise-wide application. Connectrix enables you to concurrently support multiple hosts and operating systems and also accommodates storage environments from other suppliers. This extensible connectivity frees you to consolidate more information onto fewer storage systems—with the assurance of seamless interoperability and common fabric management capability across the network.

ENABLING A VIRTUAL DATA CENTER Connectrix integrates high-speed Fibre Channel connectivity from 1 to 16 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) with highly resilient switching features providing the bandwidth required in today’s cloud or virtualized environments. Connectrix products link enterprise information at the hub of this virtual data center—ensuring easy, quick, reliable, and on-demand availability to all servers. In addition to Fibre Channel protocols, for ideal flexibility, some Connectrix models support FICON, iSCSI, FCIP, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE).

Connectrix Switches EMC offers a comprehensive line of Connectrix switches that are ready to meet any of your configurations and connectivity needs. For optimal flexibility and easy scalability, there are Connectrix switches that scale from 8 to 96 ports. For maximum investment protection, all models support auto-sensing speeds for backwards compatibility.

Rely on high availability and optimal performance With options including centralized management software and 24x7 services, EMC Connectrix switches keep even the most demanding SAN environments in full operating mode. Most Connectrix switch models incorporate several high-availability features found previously only in data center-class products:

• Hot-plug redundant power supplies

• Hot-plug redundant fans

• Hot-plug optics

• Online diagnostics

• Online non-disruptive firmware load and activation

Connectrix Enterprise Directors: Ready for mission-critical environments Get immediate, non-disruptive, and automatic failover to redundant components with

Connectrix directors. Resident diagnostics quickly identify and pinpoint system anomalies. An automatic “phone-home” capability notifies EMC’s Remote Support Facility and activates appropriate product support services, including dispatch of service personnel when necessary. Deploy directors in mission-critical environments where you need high reliability, availability and scalability.

Extensive connectivity options Connectrix extends EMC VMAX® and EMC VNX® channel connections and delivers enterprise-class levels of availability and performance with a variety of features, including:

An optional long wavelength port extends Fibre Channel cable distance on some models to 30 kilometers (km). Third party CWDM optics and MUX devices can extend the distance to 80 km and DWDM can extend those distances beyond 100 km.

Inter-switch links (ISLs) connect up to 55 directors and/or switches to form “fabric” of any-to-any device connectivity.

SAN Management Connectrix B-Series EMC Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition® for Connectrix B-Series Products provides unified fabric and device management across both Fibre Channel and Converged environments, including 16Gb switches and directors.
