a note fromthe composer

The challenge and opportunity for the music for

The Apparition was to create a score that reflected

both the voice of The (unseen) Apparition while at

the same time having the music function as score

both internally and externally supporting the

narrative of the film. We landed on a modern sound

that was able to operate in these multiple ways,

inspired by the early noise ensembles and more

recent industrial groups, the music is often thick,

throbbing, pulsing and relentlessly noisy. Ironically

much of the music was created using the human

voice, processed and distorted, which allowed the

music to breathe and at the same time become

larger than life.

We are grateful to everyone involved in the

project.
