FROM THE PRIESTFROM THE PRIEST
“I’ll believe it when I see it”!
I’ve heard that expression so many times in my life, especially as a priest!
The apostles in this weekend’s gospel seem to imply that impression and aren’t we like the apostles – we won’t believe anything unless we see with our own eyes?!?
Jesus does everything He can to assure His followers that He is not some ghost or an illusion, even showing his wounds from His crucifixion and reminding them He is the Messiah that the prophets foretold!
The main reality of the gospel message is the cross, but the gospel story does not end there! Jesus defeated sin, death and the devil by His suffering and death on the cross, and His cross is our door to Heaven and the way to glory!
Jesus gives us the power to overcome sin and anything that is in the way of His love and truth by being witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to everyone we encounter in our lifetime!
May we have a sacrificial heart like Christ’s heart on the cross, be hearers of Sacred Scripture, and be witnesses to all we encounter of Christ’s resurrection through word and deed!
• Pray for Pope Francis and all who lead the Church, especially Bishop Brennan
• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence (COVID-19; Myanmar; protests in Ireland; Ukraine/Russia conflict; Haiti)
• We look forward to welcoming Fr. Don Hope (a son of Corpus Christi parish), who is a priest of the Archdiocese of Salt Lake City, UT and is visiting family for a couple of weeks! He will be celebrating Mass with us during his visit to Columbus.
• A reminder that Masses will resume on Sundays at Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas. The Sunday Mass schedule will be the same as before COVID (9:00 a.m. Corpus Christi; 11:00 a.m. St. Ladislas). The remaining Mass schedule will still be held at St. Mary’s.
• Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Doug and Elle (Garrick) Burchfield who were married this weekend! May they be blessed united as one!
• Congratulations to Dylan Davidge who was baptized this weekend! May she be blessed as a member of our faith!
• Please pray for our young parishioners who will receive their First Holy Communion soon as they prepare for their First Communion retreat this upcoming week.
– Fr. Vince

Corpus Christi; 11:00 a.m. St. Ladislas).

3RD SUNDAY OF EASTER, APRIL 18, 2021REAL PRESENCE, REAL FUTURE REFLECTIONS:
LIVE WHAT WE BELIEVEPamela Harris, Resurrection Parish & RPRF Commission MemberToday’s Gospel invites us to live as missionary disciples who serve Christ in the work of the Church. We believe in the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. When He appeared in the Upper Room, the disciples’ initial response was confusion and fear. Their anxiety dwindled upon seeing His wounds and after He ate, their minds opened to the meaning of Scripture. Then Jesus commissioned them to preach salvation to all. Through our Baptism, we are called to be witnesses to the Gospel, living what we believe with open hearts and minds. May the Peace of the Risen Christ be with you!To read more about how we are growing together in the life of faith and discipleship in the Diocese of Columbus, visit www.RealPresenceRealFuture.org.

BISHOP READY HIGH SCHOOL HONOR ROLLCongratulations to the following parishioners who are students at Bishop Ready High School and who have attained Honor Roll status for the third quarter of the current academic year: Garrison Budd and Kennedy Howell.
“Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ But they were startled and frightened…”
– Luke 24:36-37
Throughout the day, we have many opportunities to “see the face of Jesus” in others and to “be the face of Jesus” to others. Do we take that opportunity to provide “peace” to those we encounter or are we afraid of what others will think of us and do nothing? Pray for the strength and courage to live a “God-centered” life and not a “self-centered” life.
