The show
Meute (wolf pack)
La Meute is a group of acrobatic homo sapiens belonging to the family of primates. When the aim is big La Meute keeps together to be stronger. At a time of individualism it prefers cooperation.
We work on a visual and rhythmic theatrical language. It means that the play goes through actions (not text), based on physicality, intensity of eye contacts, directions and intentions. We bring the audience into an unexpected universe, provide a place for them where they can project their own fantasies. Unexpected because of the range of our expressions and skills, and the assumed flirt between surrealism and fantastic. Taking risk, succeeding, failing, being masochistic or playing absurd games, the six acrobats dressed in towels are playing together for and with the audience. Attracting and trapping the spectators into a world where corporeal dialogues are pushed through their limits via laughter and cold sweat. We consider circus being a real, but controlled risk. Here we do not use circus as a tool of expression, but as an act that means something by itself. We are playing with our fear and we invite the audience to play with us, it is a game where everyone can play and where it is recommended
to be fair. The circus is used to create absurd situations. This show is an experience based on the present moment, nice and scary at the same time. The question is, how to claim the uselessness of our circus practice? We are six and we know each others well. Games are part of our everyday life and they feed a need of being together in an atmosphere of trust. We wear towels , a way of exposing our bodies and to embarrass ourselves. We use props that can throw us up to 8 meters in the air. The games of dodging , unlogical balance and ritual manipulations remind the audience that what is happening is real. Where some people see a weird hammam others see six crazy dogs. This is an acrobatic show playing and flirting with security and trouble during 4200 seconds. Do you want to play?
Bahoz Temaux takes care of the traditional kurdish music parts of the show.
The music We work with live and prerecorded music: voice, têmbur (traditional kurdish instrument) , saxophone, electronic music and everything else that can make sounds. Bahoz Temaux is carrying the oriental universe while Julien Auger is giving the pulse and brings us into an electro ambiance. We are open to any collaboration that can feed this project.
Outside eyes Dominique Bettenfeld, actor in the Cie Cummulus, has been our outside eye during the first step of this work in progress in November 2011. It was an important moment, giving orientation to our research, clarifying and pushing it, helping us with our methods and giving us distance to step out and look at our work. Walter Ferrero, director of the circus department at DOCH, is also of great help to us as an artistic mentor who has been following us through the whole school process.
Technical rider This show is to be played indoors or in a circus tent. The audience can be seated facing front or in circle. Stage area: At least 12m x 8m and 9m high. The floor must be absolutely flat and even, not flexible, and be able to take the pressure of the French Swing (see rigging points below or contact us for more information). On stage: two rigging points SWL 800kg each, 5.60m apart. Get in/Get out: Arrival one day before the premiere. Rigging up the day of the premiere. Departure the day after the last show. Partners
Our main partner is CIRCa (french national circus center in Auch). They are supporting us with logistics, residency, co-‐production and promotion.
We are also supported by DOCH (university of circus of Stockholm). We are in contact with other potential partners:
La Central del Circ in Barcelona, Spain. Le Théatre de Cusset in Cusset, France. Espace Périphérique in Paris, France.
Calendar
We estimate the creation period to be between 10 and 15 weeks long. It will begin in September 2012 and finish in February 2013.
The last month of residency and the first presentations will take place between the 11th and 13th of February 2013 in CIRCa in Auch, France.
We are in contact with several organizations in France and Spain regarding rehearsal spaces during the period of September to December 2012.
Needs and Advancements
We are currently looking for co-‐productions and residencies for the period of September to December 2012.
We are also open to artistic collaborations that can feed our project. We need financial support, and we have applied for several grants in France and Sweden.
We have personally invested in equipment such as several instruments and a teeterboard. We will perform throughout the year and mainly during this summer (2012) to be able to give the first financial input, estimated to
15000€.

The Collectif
Our education We started to work as a group in the National Circus School of Rosny-‐sous-‐bois (ENACR), after which we had the wish to keep on going together. This brought us to the University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm (DOCH). La Meute can perform many different circus disciplines: French swing (an original version of the Russian swing that was created for the company Cirque Désaccordé), teeterboard (high jumps and tic tac), banquine, cyr wheel, hand-‐to-‐hand, floor acrobatics, handbalancing, and acrobatic with objects.
Our utopia We want to work on “being together” and showing what it means to us. In La Meute no one is the king. One prefers the blind trust instead of insurance. We are six people that share a creation, a project, a passion and our feelings everyday. And charged with this background we want to share with the audience a show that makes them reflect on what it means to be together. In the disciplines we perform, a huge trust in each other is required. When one jumps, everybody takes part, each one in a different way, but each one well present for the others. Sometimes we do not agree, sometimes we are scared, but being together is a unique way to share and have fun.
All those acrobatic skills mixed together to serve our common utopia.
Thibault Brignier (high jumper, stuntman, acrobat with objects) “I think that one should laugh everyday, and I like to make it happen mainly through stunts and absurd situations. I am a Fan of Buster Keaton, and I can pretend to play the guitar really well.”
Arnau Serra-‐Villa (high jumper, banquine base, cyr wheel acrobat) “I want to be on stage and share the risk, the humour and my creativity with my audience.”
Julien Auger (high jumper, hand balancer, juggler, banquine and hand-‐to-‐hand flyer, musician) “Pushed by some crazy power I do not know where I am going, but I go for it.”
Mathieu Lagaillarde (high jumper, floor acrobat, half time base/ half time flyer) “Circus is for me a way to relate to the extreme.”
Sidney Pin (high jumper, banquine and hand-‐to-‐hand base) “On the teeterboard, on the Russian swing, in hand-‐to-‐hand, as a base or a flyer, my job is mainly to develop different ways of working in a group.”
Bahoz Temaux (high jumper, floor acrobat, banquine base, musician) “A circus workshop changed my life; I did learn to jump over the limits I thought were true.”
