O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen. Happy Birthday Catholic Church! On this Feast of Pentecost we recognize the coming of the Holy Spirit and the going out of the early disciples to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The prayer to the Holy Spirit is a powerful weapon against the troubles and temptations of the world. Asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit, especially for those Confirmed Catholics, is an opportunity to renew the sacramental grace received and open our hearts once more to the gifts of the Holy Spir-it in service of God and his holy Catholic Church. La religión y la política a menudo se cruzan en muchos niveles. A veces esto es algo bueno y a veces es al-go malo. En este momento, el estado de California ha propuesto una ley, SB 360, que interfiere con el sello sacramental de la Reconciliación / Confesión al exigir a los sacerdotes católicos y otras denominaciones reli-giosas que rompan los sellos sagrados que rodean nuestra fe y enseñanzas como Iglesia. Muchas personas han expresado su preocupación por esta intrusión en la práctica de nuestra fe y los obispos de California se han mantenido en oposición a esta ley propuesta. El Obispo Cantú ha publicado un breve video que explica la oposición de la Iglesia Católica a esta ley. Animo a todos a escribir, llamar o enviar un correo electrónico a nuestros legisladores para expresar nuestros pensamientos en oposición al SB 360.
En una nota más ligera y divertida: Gracias a todos los que ya se han dado a la campaña Afeitado Limpio para un Comienzo Limpio. Es importante que no solo pensemos que es una buena idea, sino que también presentemos nuestros obsequios para fortalecer esta campaña. Estamos en las últimas cuatro se-manas de esta campaña y espero a través de su apoyo que la barba se afeite a medida que cerramos la bre-cha y comenzamos el nuevo año fiscal con la bendición de una campaña fructífera.
Finalmente, gracias a todos los que ayudaron con la Misa y la celebración para el Padre Víctor. Un agradeci-miento especial a nuestro ministerio de Filipinos and Friends.

Religion and politics often intersect on a variety of levels. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes it is a bad thing. At this moment the state of California has proposed a bill, SB 360, that would interfere with the sacramental seal of Reconciliation/Confession by requiring Catholic priests and other religious denominations to break the sacred seals that surround our faith and teachings as a Church. Many people have expressed worry over this intrusion into the practice of our faith and the bishops of California have stood as one in oppo-sition to this proposed law. Bishop Cantú has put out a short video explaining the Catholic Church’s opposi-tion to this proposed law. I would encourage all of us to write, call or email our legislators to express our thoughts in opposition to SB 360.
On a lighter and fun note: Thank you to everyone who has already given to the Clean Shave for a Clean Start campaign. It is important that we not only think it’s a good idea but also put forth our financial gifts to strength-en this campaign. We are in the final four weeks of this campaign and I hope through your support that the beard is shaven as we close the gap and start the new fiscal year with the blessing of a fruitful campaign.
Lastly, thank you to all who helped make Fr. Victor’s Mass and celebration such a time of joy. A special thank you to our Filipinos and Friends ministry

Open registrations! For the children’s catechesis
We offer the following programs:
PRESCHOOL: St. Lucy offers catechesis for early childhood (Ages 3-5). Sundays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (in English).
GRADES K-6: Catechesis in English. The children receive the First Communion after their 2nd year of catechesis (no counting Kindergarten). Sundays from 10:00 to 11:15 AM or Wednesdays from 4 to 5:15 PM. We also offer ongoing catechesis.
GRADES 1-6: Catechesis in Spanish. The children receive the First Communion after their 2nd year of catechesis. Sundays from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM or Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:15 PM. We also offer on-going catechesis.
Register your children on time in the parish office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm - 6pm.

ALTAR DUTY MINISTERS: Do you ever wonder who takes care of the Altar linens and Candelabras for the Masses at St Lucy Church? It is a ministry of men & women from the Parish that volunteer to help one day a week for one month of the year. Training will be provided. If interested please call Betty Grim at 408-377-7467.

Drop off food in the baskets at the exits of the church after weekend Masses or drop off at the Outreach Office between 10:00 and 11:45 M-F. Please check the expiration date on the food that you give us. We cannot give out food past the "Best Used By" date or if the package has been opened. Remember - Check the Date before you Donate.
