Labor Day in the USA

• Labor Day is the first Monday of September.

• On this day, we think about the workers of this country.

Labor Day in the USA

• Workers build railroads, highways, bridges, and homes.

• Workers build factories, and make things in factories.

Labor Day in the USA

• Workers grow food, and other workers bring it to the stores.

• Workers fix things when they are broken, and workers take care of us when we are sick.

Labor Day in the USA

• Workers write newspapers and books, teach in schools, and sell things we need.

• Workers cut hair, clean clothing, and repair cars.

Labor Day in the USA

• Workers wait on tables, wash dishes, and cook.

• Workers take away garbage and keep streets clean.

• Workers protect, put out fires, and rescue from danger.

Labor Day in the USA

• Today machines and computers do a lot of work too.

• But workers make and operate the machines.

• Workers program the computers.

Labor Day in the USA

• Schools, banks, and post offices are closed on Labor Day.

• Family and friends get together for picnics and barbecues.

Labor Day in the USA

• Labor Day marks the end of summer.

• Many workers take a rest or go traveling on the long weekend.
