President's Corner
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Since the last Newsletter, the month of July has been a quiet one. I hope you all had a
great July 4th and enjoying some great vacation time with your families.
Just a couple of things, I would remind again all of our Membership to please helpsupport our Friday night dinners, remember this is one of the strongest social
backbones of our club. I hope by the time you read this, many of you have enjoyed
Saturday the 27th at Lake Com pounce as my family will, thanks for your support. Your
Board of Directors has approved placing an ad in the St. George's 25th anniversary
book for their celebration on Sept. 20-22nd. Please help support this Great Celebration.
Also, please support St. Anthony's Fabulous Festival on Aug.16 & 17.Thanks again for
all you all do.
Jimmy Glynn and Vinny DiGilio will be starting the Monday Night football in early
September, and Billy Asmar will also be running his 50/50 raffle in the Fall. They are
asking for as much help as possible to make these events a big success.
Finally and most Important to me is, please do not forget to support and play in our Golf
tournament at Richter Park on Wednesday Sept. 11. This is one of our biggest fund
raisers for our building fund, so give it your best support.
Thank you all again for all you do for YOUR CULB and for all your support. May God
Bless you all and give you all Health, Happiness and Prosperity.
As Always Your Brother,
John Ashkar
LAC President

News Staff Corner I hope everyone is making it through this oppressive heat and humidity. We
know you've heard it many times but once more won't hurt - keep hydrated, limit your outside
activities and try to stay indoors with AlC or fans. Below are some important items that need your
attention: Friday night dinners are a club function and therefore members that come to the club are expected
to participate by having dinner and not ordering out for food.
There is no smoking in the club any time food is being served or while there is a function that has
a meal as part of its program.
Corkage collection still remains to be a problem. The proceeds fall far short of the amount of beer
and soda consumed. The club cannot continue to absorb this loss. Please remember to contribute
your fair share anytime you indulge in a cold drink be it beer or soda. Remember it is your club and
along with this, these are your expenses.
During these heat waves it is important to monitor the A/C and not let it run continuously
overnight or when no one is using the facilities. If you are the last to leave, please turn off the Ale.
Members News As you know, we have been featuring members of our club who have contributed
unselfishly to make the club a better place. This month we would like to recognize Lila Shaker from
the Ladies Auxiliary. We all know Lila from her wonderful, informative, and humorous articles inour past newsletters. We all remember how we looked forward to the next month's newsletter just to read
her page, not that the other pages weren't important, but she always had something in her articles that either
caught your mind or tickled your fancy. Ifyol! don't know Lila personally, we are
sure you know her through her articles. Thank you Lila and we hope you consider writing again.
President John Ashkar was recently honored by the National Association of Realtors. John received
the status of Realtor Emeritus. This honor is given to real estate professionals who have had
membership in the association for 40 years. The article in the Danbury News-Times also listed the
long list of John's accomplishments in the real estate profession. The full article can be found in the
July 17th edition of the newspaper. (and we thought that he was just another pretty face).
Please feel free to send us any member information that you think is noteworthy. We will try to
include it in a future newsletter.
Health and Welfare, if you know of any member that is ill, please send an email to Fred Antoniosat [email protected]
