From the Pastor : Written on Monday, January 4, 2016... This coming Sunday, we will have an opportunity to serve in a different way. God has called Stanford Baptist Church to reach to our Jerusalem, Samaria, and the end of the earth. This can take on many different shapes and sizes. In this case, it is revitalization. That word, “revitalize,” means to give new life or vigor to. In our county, there is a church in need of revitalization. McKinney Baptist Church has been serving through God’s calling, but financially struggling. McKinney Baptist Church is averaging 24 on Sunday morning, 10 on Sunday evening and 57 on Wednesday evening. The budget that was approved for 2015 was $77,680.00 but the funds were so low by the beginning of 2015, that they decided to focus primarily on their Wednesday night program. They currently feed 45-50 kids per week. They have also baptized 10 of those children. In their last business meeting, they carried a $100 balance. We were asked to see if we can financially assist McKinney Baptist Church in any way. Through discussion and much prayer in the deacon’s meeting, it was decided to take up a love offering for them. So this Sunday, January 10 th , after the morning service, we will be taking a special offering for McKinney Baptist Church. Anything we can do to help financially, will go a long way to helping their church, God’s church. More than anything, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being available to endure this hardship with my mother. I will never believe she could have survived this experience had it not been for the community of Stanford Baptist Church. I know my mother loves all of you and has found peace that surpasses all understanding thanks to the prayerful support and exhortations of your entire congregation. Obviously, given the circumstances, I have made some less than desirable choices in life. These choices have cost me my freedom, but my soul is yet untarnished. Being incarcerated has taught me to, above all else, love God and love my family. Moreover, I'm learning that God is still faithful to complete the good work He started in spite of my own fallibility. Every day I ask God to empower me to make choices that will bring me closer to Him. Every day I ask God for His protection and guidance. Every day I thank God for saving me, even though it has taken federal prison to shake me into submission. Ultimately, I thank God each day for His enduring forbearance and for my beloved mother and her church family. Thank you again for offering up your supplications on my behalf. Thank you for the time that you have spent praying and interceding on my behalf. If I have learned anything at all, it is that time is more precious than silver or gold and that I am not promised tomorrow. I used to view this as a conversational cliché, but now I know it to be an invaluable truth. Please continue to support my mother with your friendship and write to me at your pleasure. You will never know how precious your letters and cards are to me. I am looking forward to my exit date so I can visit my hometown to share what God can really do! Thanks to Mike Tracy for a beautiful job on our special music.

Thanks also to Becky and Laura Lee for a beautiful job on the offertory

and the music during the Communion Service.

This Sunday Becky and Laura Lee will be playing our offertory.

The Adult Choir will be back in the loft as they sing the spiritual "Dry

Bones" from Ezekiel 37:1-10. You might want to read this scripture to

reacquaint yourself with this story. Nick will be preaching from this text.

Have a great week!

Stuart
