The board met on 13 September. Highlights:
The board is still working on getting the half-sunken boat away from the club. The salvage company that
was supposed to do it didn’t show up. Stay tuned…
The board approved getting a new AC unit in the kitchen at the request of Ilsa Unglaube, one of our
Wednesday hot dog volunteers. This is the opportunity to say “danke schoen” to Ilsa and all those who
help set up and clean after the race.
Here are the current nominations for board members: Commodore: Richards (continuing); Rear: John
(continuing); Vice: Kalna (continuing); Treasurer: Faulk (continuing); Secretary: open (please apply!);
Newsletter: Girard (continuing); Race: Latour (new); Harbor: Cesar (new); Grounds: Sargent (continuing);
Social: Rice (new).
From Summer Rice: There will be a social on 22 October. The theme is Halloween. Come costumed! There will
be a prize for best costume. Drinks at 5:30, dinner at 6.
From Sheron Faulk: Late fees are added each bill if the dues payment is not received within 45 days of the due
date. Please pay your bill on time to avoid the late fee. Email me at [email protected] to know your

Many thanks to the people who helped clean the beach during the work party on 9/10 (Kalna, Abrahams,

answer any questions and provide technical info on paddling. Other related paddling representatives will be there
also. The LC KAYAK Fishing club will also be present. This event is open to anyone and paddlers over 18

About the Patriots Day Regatta: (from Scot Cesar): “There was not a lot of wind and rain apparently
everywhere but the club. This was our first sole one-design regatta in a while at the club. Three sunfish
put into the water in very light wind and held a race from the X mark to the B mark by the club. I think
the logic was it was better to head back in than paddle all the way back across the lake. The results are
below. Apparently David was able to float faster across the line than the others. Congratulations!”
