I have spent time reflecting on my retirement and what the last 37 years of profes-sional, ordained ministry has meant to me. It is, at best, difficult to sum up that many years into a few words or thoughts. The late John Wooden (former coach of the UCLA basketball team) had a unique
definition of success. ‘Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.’ I know, with all my heart, that I have given God my best! I know in my heart that I was a ‘minor league player in a major league game.’ That basically means I know I was not that talented, however, I was called and anointed by God for this ministry.
It was never ‘just something that I wanted to do’! Honestly, my true desire was to be in Nashville pursuing a music career. All of my ordained ministry was done total-ly because God called me to this life! It was by His grace and power that I served in ministry for all these years. I have known from the beginning … ‘I am weak but He is
strong.’ For those of you who were blessed by my ministry, you should praise God and give Him ALL the credit. For those people who did not enjoy my ministry, well – all I can say is that I was just doing what God called me to do. Believe me, it was not simply my choice! It was a command performance that brought me to this stage! I realized and recognized that I did not have the talent to do what He was calling me to do; however, I was determined to trust Him. My critics might think I am just trying to ‘play’ at this humility. No…not at all. I really knew, and know, that in and of myself I have had nothing to offer anybody. If my ministry did anyone any good, it was in spite of me and ALL BECAUSE OF HIM! To God be the glory!! In the final analysis, I did my best! I am at peace with that fact, and I rest easy with that reality in these days before I retire! Peace! Pastor Geller

Thanks to the Carpenter’s Hands Crew! The Carpenter's Hands crew of Joe Morris, Bruce Neumann, Butch Munnerlyn, Jim
Snyder, Bill Cromwell, Bob Patton, Andy Wheeler, Kye Han Lee, Keith Zimmerman, Ralph Hendricks, and Robert Orr have constructed a storage closet for
Wesley Hall chairs & tables, and Pre-school wing overflow.
A cement overlay was extended the back wall by 5 feet, and a new wall was created to petition the closet from the Pre-School hallway. Double doors
are on order and will be installed in June. However, the closet is in use now for Wesley Hall tables and chairs. Many thanks to the Carpenter’s
Hands for their work and dedication to improving the FUMC campus!

Home Delivered Meals is in great need for volunteer drivers. You can volunteer one day a month (or
more if you’d like). The meals are picked up at the hospital at 10:30 and you are thru by 12:00. It works
really well if you have 2 people - one drives, one takes the meal to the door, BUT many of the volunteers do
go by themselves. They have a need for drivers in Lake Jackson, Clute and Freeport. There
is also need for a sub right now if you are not interested in doing this permanently. If you
can't volunteer, maybe you know someone who would be interested. Just an FYI - home
delivered meals is not a government funded program - it is run totally on donations. If you
are interested in helping, please call Lib Cox at 297-4233.
