Here you will find many rare species of flora and

fauna, including stunted eastern white cedars growing

from the cliff face of the escarpment and considered

Last May’s fundraiser golf tournament was at

the prestigious Pipers’ Heath Golf Club and we

raised over $40,000 which went to the funding

of critical programs and mentoring for youth at

risk. There are hundreds of youth who need our

help. We live in an affluent community and it is

easy to be unaware of the number of countless

families who are struggling to make ends meet.

It is often the children and teenagers in these

families who are hurt by poverty or a troubled

home life.

For nearly 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sis-

ters have been making a positive difference

in the lives of our nation’s youth by developing

and implementing a wide range of mentoring

programs. They offer one-to-one and group pro-

grams for both in school and outside of school.

These youth are our future politicians,

business people and community leaders. To

abandon them would be unthinkable. It is our

duty to ensure they are given all the advan-

tages we can provide for them to succeed.

Witnessing the transformation of a child into

a confident, concerned and motivated young

person is a remarkable thing. Ushering them into

adulthood, seeing them grow into a successful,

responsible member of their community and

society at large is even more satisfying.

“I am proud to play a major role in helping

our local charities raise money to look after

our community. This years charity golf tour-

nament will be on June 17th at Pipers’ Heath

September of 2005, Halton Healthcare Servi-

ces (HHS) received approval to proceed with

the expansion and relocation of Oakville-Tra-

falgar Memorial Hospital. John Oliver, HHS

President & CEO has taken this opportunity

to explore new and creative ways of deliv-

ering healthcare to our community through

the expansion of the new hospital. The Dan

- Venue sponsor for COMiC ViSiOn - Every

year the Dan Cooper Group is the venue spon-

sor for Comic Vision, an evening of comedy

created to support the Foundation Fighting

Blindness. Their mission is to find the causes,

VillE CEnTRE FOR ThE pERFORMing

ARTS - The Dan Cooper Concert Series is a

charitable initiative that sponsors and helps

support the Oakville Centre for the Performing

Arts to host a multitude of celebrity perform-

ances and special events for the community

of Oakville. Randy Bachman, Boyz II Men,

Chantal Kreviazuk and Serena Ryder have all

been part of the Dan Cooper Concert Series.

- Gabrielle’s Ride – Since 2010 Dan Cooper

has contributed to Gabrielle’s Ride; a charity

cycle inspired by the life of Gabrielle Ide Cin-

anni. Gabrielle’s Ride raises funds to support

Cardiac Kids and the Pediatric Stroke Fund at

SiCkkiDS FOUnDATiOn. Dan knew Gabrielle

personally before she passed away and has a

vested interest in the success of the foundation.

- Joe’s Team Triathlon in support of ThE

pRinCESS MARgARET hOSpiTAl FOUnDA-

TiOn – Dan has banded together to form Joe’s

Team Triathlon in support of the Princess Mar-

garet Hospital Foundation. Working together

with health care and research professionals,

patients and the community, the PMH foun-

dation has raised over $70 million annually to

support breakthrough research and patient

care to combat cancer.

- ApplEBY COllEgE - Throughout the

year, Appleby College supports a multitude

of special events and charitable causes that

brings the Oakville community together. The

Dan Cooper Group has contributed and aided

Appleby College over the years in raising

money and awareness for charities and has

participated in programs to aid students with

their academic careers.

- wORlD ViSiOn – Dan proudly supports

World Vision and believes that by sponsoring

a child, he can provide the essentials they

there are millions of children who suffer every

Posidu Thiwanka Pinnagodage, who is 10
