General Information Why Beautiful Tables Showcase?

Lakewold Gardens is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization and our mission is to Our mission: To preserve and enhance Lakewold Gardens as a historic estate garden of world class distinction, offering each visitor an inspirational experience through growth and learning in a profoundly unique setting.

Beautiful Tables Showcase has proven to be a great opportunity to visit the gardens in the fall while raising funds for the up-keep of the grounds.

Don’t Forget . . . We will supply an ironing board, but it’s the decora-

tor’s responsibility to supply their own iron. DO NOT overflow your space. We will be monitoring

the use of space around the tables during the set-up to ensure that everyone has ample space for their design. Please contact Cora at 253.584.4106 if you have questions or concerns about this matter.

As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, all items on your table must remain in place throughout the Showcase.

We encourage decorators to add signage to their table design to provide more information about their display such as: pieces used, history, and dedication. Please note that during the judging anything on the table that contains the designer(s) name and/or busi-ness name will be removed then replaced after the judging is completed.

Because each table provides a unique ambiance, the playing of music at a table in the showcase will not be allowed.

Participants are not permitted to sell merchandise on site. However, we encourage you to place a

placard and/or business cards on your table.

What does a Docent do? Volunteer when the showcase is open to the public

for a 3 hour shift. Help to ensure that tables are undisturbed. Direct visitors to refreshments and restrooms. In

addition will assist with restocking. Answer questions about the showcase and Lakewold

Gardens.

Judging Judges will choose winning tables for both novice

and professional levels in the following categories: Formal Seasonal/Holiday Whimsical Contemporary

Judges will choose “Best of Show” table. Visitors will vote for the “People’s Choice” award for

both novice and professional tables. Recognition will be given to table winners.

Table Selection Process New this year: Once all Participation Agreements

have been submitted and received , decorators will receive

a randomly assigned table location. To promote a look of

uniformity throughout the showcase, all tables will be the

same size, 48”, and provided by Lakewold Gardens. Table

assignments are final. Due to random table assignments

and not wanting to give advantages to some decorators

over others, no use of electrical outlets will be allowed. No

wall hanging items will be allowed. However free-standing

apparatuses such as screens or stands to hang items from

are acceptable.

SAMPLE OF PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Home for the Holidays It’s that special time of year, made even more memorable by Christmas dinner

at home. Designer Marcia Garrett combines assorted family china, silver, and crystal to set the stage for this festive celebration.

Mother’s Day in the Garden Celebrating mothers - our very first friend. Using a collection of Franciscan “Desert Rose” china and crystal candlesticks, designer Becky Scholz creates a charming floral setting. The adjoining collection of 1950’s Dresden figurines adds a perfect touch of amusement to this table of honor.

Blue Mikado Designer Marguerite Wesseler has used family heirloom Royal Crown Derby “Blue Mikado” china, inherited from her husband’s grandmother. The setting is accompanied by charming Sake glasses that coordinate with the crystal wine glasses, Japanese themed plates, and Towle “King Richard” sterling. The center-piece artfully crafted by Crane’s Creations and the framed artwork on the wall complete this formal display.

Mouse King’s Revenge This whimsical setting by Tina Clark, Owner of N.Y. Hair Salon, is a tribute to the arts. Tina uses general pieces in her setting that highlights the Washington Contem-porary Ballet, The Tacoma Youth Chorus, and the Lakewood Playhouse.
