The manufacturing process of our elastomeric bearings undergo periodical tests.

Interbuna,S.L.work under the European Standard EN-1137-3,test will be done onfinished bearings in order to assure a real control of the piece.

STANDARD TYPE OF LAMINATED ELASTOMERICBEARINGS:

A TYPE-ONE STEEL PLATE REINFORCED BEARINGS:

B TYPE-REINFORCED BEARING:

Bearings manufactured with elastomeric layers and high resistance steel plates joint bya careful vulcanization process.

They can absorb vertical loads up to 15000kN and movements and turns in alldirections.

C TYPE-REINFORCED AND ANCHORED BEARINGS (C2, C4 & CS):

C2 Type:

Laminated Elastomeric bearing with their upper and lowered sides anchored to thestructure. This is to avoid a displacement between the bearing and the structure.

CS TYPE:

Equal to T2 but with embossed metallic plates. These bearings are mainly used whenthey are stick with resin or mortar to the structure.

D and E TYPES-Sliding elastomeric bearings with PTFE:

Laminated elastomeric bearing with PTFE vulcanized. Its dimension is determinedaccording to the movements and efforts.

F type-Elastomeric bearings without reinforcement:

Only manufactured with elastomer the admissible working load goes from 1.5 to 5N/mm2 .

C4 TypeSimilar to T2 but with external metallic plates.

Interbuna S.L. Spain is doing a Factory Production Control about their raw materialand final product fulfilling the UNE 1337-3 standard in every moment in the bearingproduction, doing at least test requested by the mentioned standard different phases ofroutine compression test.

Bearing installation:

Bearings will be placed over a clean, dry and horizontal place. For in-situ construction,the bearing should be protected in order to avoid grout or concrete from damaging thesides of the bearings. This can be achieved by surrounding the bearing with expandedpolystyrene and taping adequately between the top surface of the bearing and thepolystyrene. Polystyrene should be carefully removed after the structure has been cast.

POT BEARING COMPONENTS AND TYPES

INTERBUNA designs each bearing according to the Client specifications, such as Standard, Loads,top and bottom contact surfaces, etc. Nevertheless, the following tables define the generaldimensions of bearings according to the EN-1337-5, considering a maximum concrete pressure of25 N/mm2 (SLS).

1. Preparation of the piersBefore concrete casting in piers/abutments, prepare recesses for bearingdowels using plastic ducts sealed at their lower point with cellulose caps. Ductsshall protrude to avoid any entrance of concrete during the casting operation.

2. Placing in position and levelling the bearingPlace the bearing on its final position according to topography. It is veryimportant to assure that the bearing is perfectly horizontal. For thisoperation, levelling coves or timber wedges can be used. Furthermore,there must be enough space between the duct which is housing the dowelsand the bearing base, in order to allow the mortar to flow properly and makesure that the ducts are being completely filled up.

3. Mortar FillingA small formwork for the plinth has to be built. High resistance self-levellingmortar shall be poured, vibrating if necessary, to assure the correct execution ofthe plinth.

4. Deck formwork and reinforcementDeck formwork is placed embedding the upper dowels of the bearing. Thecorresponding bearing´s reinforcement steel should be positioned on the deck.

5. Removal of fastening accessoriesFinally, after the concrete casting of the deck, the bearing has to beunlocked, removing the lateral fastening accessories and blocking device.
