Detailed Design 5. Landscape & Maintenance IssuesIt is the intention to ensure that all signage needs to be located in hard landscaping to ensure for easy maintenance as there are currently ongoing issues with having to maintain the soft landscape and mowing close to signs located in soft landscape.

Therefore all signs are either to be located in existing hard landscaping or a new hard-standing is required to be constructed when the signs are installed.

This hard standing landscape is to be constructed in accordance with the University’s code of Practice for hard landscaping which sets out the materials to match existing paving and other hard surfaces or the specifications for cobble setts to be constructed where there is existing soft landscape.

The signs are intended to be a simple robust design, with basic cleaning regimes.

Architectural grade powder coat finish.Cleaning of all powder coat finishes with a weak solution of a mild detergent and soft polypropylene cloth. Avoid detergents containing acid. Once the surface has been cleaned thoroughly it should be wiped off with clean water.Clean off stickers etc using white spirit.Powder coated finish can be touched up by masking and spraying, small scratches can be rubbed out using Tcut

Stainless steel kick plates should be cleaned using a proprietary stainless steel cleaner as required.

Glass to be cleaned using a proprietary anti static glass cleaner.
