Data management system
The Research Team were expected to get an understanding of the databases the Provincial/Regional Office (Information Management Unit) use which are:
Magic Land base Umhlaba Wethu Saflii website
The main outcome of this exercise was to ascertain which system is the most reliable and extensive and is the one that the study will be utilising
![Page 5: Land restitution Presentation final](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022092617/58f0891a1a28ab1d258b45b5/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Data management system cont…Land base system Since the start of the research exercise Land Base system has never been up and running,
on the 27th of June 2013 an attempt to fix it was made, but no progress was made
Electronic Data Management (EMD) Scanned filesUsed for Unsettled Claims
Challenges with EDM: Not all the settled claims are available in the system. Not all the necessary information needed is available in some instances Research Assistants would
find a claim with only valuation report or validation report no Gazette form nor Section 42D in some cases project name are available but are un-accessible.
Missing documents both electronically and in hardcopy files. Repetition of information in some claims
