Year 2011Place Urbanization at Nossa Sen-hora da Conceição - Vila RealtYPe Individual work | Academic | Public space desing

BGU University Entrance Square by Chyutin Architects
01 | Landscape desing project
DescriPtive note A small garden proximity, limited by several constraints, including the steep slope and the fact of being an interior garden and very uneven within the urbanization. 3 gardens are created with different functions, given the different needs of people who use it, but which nevertheless form a whole by the matrix used to homogenise the place. They are also designed color matches with vegetation and aromas throughout the year, and games with normal, concave and convex, mirrors, so as to boost the space and it can be used in various ways. The gap is over-come with universal access ramps.

Current situation of the Garden of Nª Sª da Conceição |
DescriPtive note The project focuses on the redevelop-ment of the garden , maintaining the character of the place , as well as elements of the same characteristic , in this case the existing square with a small lake , accompanied occasionally falls. The high “ nakedness “ of space for lack of woody vegetation / shrubs, as well as suscep-tibility to noise by the surrounding roads and very sunny areas , make the space to be rethought . One of the main objectives is to maintain the continuity of space , thus creating a ‘ ring ‘ of vegetation envonvente the garden , so that it becomes more private for those using it , making it a space cozier and more intimate recreational asset / liability and leisure. It is thought to space a small kiosk / library, which provides an interactive and attractive for any-one who uses the garden so you can enjoy and benefit from reading as it passes through there , or even who watches the kids on the play-ground. Structures are implemented too teach-ing ara children in the playground option , em-bedded in a more natural setting , surrounded by nature , as well as sculptural structures in red shades , as well as the contrasting green of the garden , making it more appealing and flashy.

Year 2012Place Tabolado garden - ChavestYPe Individual work | Academic | Public space desing
01 | Landscape desing project
DescriPtive note The Tabolado garden is placed in Chaves by a historical context. The purpose for this garden is space homogenization or by pavements or on the vegetation, so that it have a higher visual ap-preciation and attractiveness factor to the city. Are inserted in garden chronological iron murals that tell so simplified the historical periods in which the city has over the centu-ries, of which there are countless traces, and where many of these are placed in the garden. The strategy for the garden involves the interconnection with the existing heritage surrounding nature, where the garden be-comes central point from which to explore the city and its history.

DescriPtive note It is important to do a survey and historical research of any local intervention, as well as the evolution of it over time, in this case Chaves, to make decisions concerning the strategy to be adopted. The city’s history has comes from prehistoric times, through the Roman and medieval times these being the ones that have left traces, from the thermal baths, bridges and Roman ruins to the Me-nagem tower, walls and urban fabric “super condensed “the cur-rent historic city center. It is also observed, that the city is growing towards Spain, namely northwest, due to better relations and trade.

DescriPtive note The strategy adopted for Keys is the interconnection be-tween the existing heritage and nature. It was then intended to connect the existing heritage dispersed throughout the city by green corridors, ie, either by grounds of proximity or framework, either by alignments trees, thus enhanc-ing the ecological structure of the city, making it more sustainable and diluting also the “gray” of it, giving it more color and dynamic over the year. It is noted that the proposed gardens through analyzes and syntheses made, the gardens are has in the city.

DescriPtive note Are proposed protected areas along the river beds and banks of creeks and affluent Corgo because human occupation in these areas can have serious consequences for water quality, which can lead to the allocation of habitats and biodiversity. They are also three proposed greenways accompanying all the old railway line, in order to create a continuous green corri-dor connecting throughout the city, as so follow the old circuit Vila Real and follow the current circuit of Vila Real, in order to connect the entire city and enhance the ecological structure of the city.

DescriPtive note The methodology employed to arrive at a development plan for the Valley Corgo went through a site survey as well as a photographic survey of the entire area, thus leading to an anal-ysis where determined threats, opportunities, weaknesses and strengths of the site. From this analysis were developed analysis determinants for space, like slopes, bioclimatic comfort, land uses and con-straints, to ascertain what kind of space would have the ability to construction, agriculture, recreation and leisure and protection, thus arriving at a analytical synthesis site and a thematic synthesis.

Current situation of the Valley of Corgo - Potentials |
DescriPtive note Through the analytical synthesis and a thematic synthesis, we reached a development plan / site development. They defined up protection zones, construction zones, urban ag-ricultural areas, areas qualified to parks and recreational assets and liabilities, and came to the conclusion that most overlapped with the existing. They are also proposed viewpoints on the higher, several routes along the valley and the scarps of Rio Corgo and picnic parks, since this time there is no available in the area.
