What the Robotics Team Does
Participation in the FIRST robotics competition Largest High School level robotics competition in the world Build a robot from scratch for a new challenge each year Compete in Richmond and DC
What will I be Doing?
Exploring robotics in a collaborative team atmosphere
Working with technology used in the real world Building a robot (no previous experience required)! Going on field trips for competitions (optional)
When we Meet
Preseason: every other week Oct 25 – Dec 20 (unless otherwise announced)
Build/Competition Season: Every Day (optional) Postseason: Sporadically Sign up for email list to get updates on meetings and
team activities
Benefits of Robotics
Learning about the various fields involved in robotics technology
Meet people with similar interests Looks good on college applications Can replace science fair participation Learn real world skills in fields ranging from
computer science and engineering to business marketing and leadership or organization
Participation in a very fun competition (you'll never see a competition like FIRST again)
Fundraising
Team registration for FIRST robotics requires funds Last year we raised over $10,000 Everyone is expected to help in the fundraising effort (this
year's funding goal is $13,000) Fundraising efforts involve getting sponsorships and grants
from companies of various sizes Club dues: $75-100 (TBD) Parent meeting: Thursday, October 14 @ 7pm in the Library
