Dear Parents,
The weeks seem to be flying by and they have all been so busy. The Year 6 children will all be visiting their new schools during the next couple of weeks for the transition days. Here at Glenmere, we will also be having our class change over day.
Reception Class Assembly KS1 & KS2 Sports Day
Congratulations to our fabulous Reception class. The children were all amazing in their class assembly this week. They really brought the stage alive with their beautiful singing. Thank you to Mrs Siddons and all the
staff who helped with the play.
After all the rain, we were so lucky that our Sports Days were both held on fine, dry mornings. The children tried really hard and they all took part in a variety of races and fun events. Thank you to all the parents who came to support the children and to the PSA for
providing the refreshments.

Year 6 Leaver’s Lunch and Leaver’s Party
The children in Years 5 and 6 spent the day exploring Bradgate Park last week. The children took part in workshops which
taught compass skills and map reading.
Last week we held a Health and Wellbeing Day. All the children took part in various fun activities and they all made healthy fruit kebabs.
The children in Years 5 and 6 had a great day learning about business and money. They all engaged in a variety of fun, practical, activities which involved them making
decisions concerning money.
The Year 6 children had a special Leavers Lunch this week. They also enjoyed a Leavers Party, when they had great fun playing games.

New Reception Children
It was lovely to welcome our new reception children into school last week for their stay and play afternoon. Mrs Pell is really looking forward to teaching them all after the summer.
It was our area athletics finals last week. Our children did amazingly well in a variety of events, with children winning the 800m, long jump and the relay races. We were the overall winners in the small school for Years 4, 5 and 6, which is a brilliant achievement!
The children were all involved in workshops led by Rock Steady Music last week. The workshops were held to give an insight into the lessons the company will be offering for the children in the new academic year. The children all really enjoyed the afternoon and had lots of fun. It was great to see so many parents coming along to watch.
The children in Years 5 & 6 had a very valuable day being taught about developing a growth mind set; they took part in a variety of activities that developed resilience, team building, willingness to take risks and effective communication. We hope these are skills which will help the children with their transition into Year 6 and High School.
A huge thank you to our PSA, who arranged and ran a superb Summer Fayre on 15th June 2019. The organisation of the event was exceptional and the PSA members worked exceptionally hard preparing it all. It was a fabulous day, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
