Language Courses - Self Study Quiz
User: Professor Kerry
• Prof. Kerry teaches Spanish 2, an advanced beginning Spanish course that builds upon his Spanish 1 course offered last quarter.
• In order to prepare his students for an upcoming mid-term exam, Prof. Kerry decides to create a self-study quiz that has questions similar to the ones on the actual exam.
Teacher Usage Scenario:
• Prof. Kerry logs into his Spanish 2 course web site.
• In the Admin Assignment view, Prof. Kerry selects the self-study quiz template from the drop-down menu and then clicks the Create New Assignment link.
• In the Assessment Editor view, Prof. Kerry is presented with a self-study quiz template. This template was previously created in the template editor by an ATS in the Languages Department.

Teacher Usage Scenario (continued)
• For this self-study quiz, Prof. Kerry wants to have a combination of cloze exercises, matching questions, short answers, and audio comprehension activities divided into 4 parts.
• Prof. Kerry also wants to make the test available to his students 1 week before the mid-term. Since it is a self-study quiz, his students can see immediate feedback, as well as take the quiz as many times as they want without getting a score/grade. Furthermore, students have the option to email him directly if they are confused about a particular question.
• Prof. Kerry likes the convenience of the self-study template which has the following pre-selected features:- multiple part quiz released on a specified date- questions can be answered in sequential or non-sequential order- unlimited # of tries- no scoring option- immediate feedback on an item-by-item basis- option to save question to “question review list” & return to it later- option to view hint on selected questions- option to email instructor for clarifications

• Having completed his first quarter of Spanish, Kyle now enrolls in Spanish 2, an advanced beginning course emphasizing listening comprehension, oral proficiency, and grammar.
Student Usage Scenario:
• Kyle’s first mid-term is only 5 days away.
• In preparation for the mid-term, Kyle’s professor, Charles Kerns, has announced that there will be a self-study quiz available online.
