If the King is killed, his body will be there. That will show that the Duke is the

murderer.

The King is imprisoned in the Old Castle, in the room at the end of the drawbridge. In the next room, three of the Six

are always on guard. If there is an attack on the Castle, one of the guards will run in and kill the King at once.

Johann, if you help me, I shall reward you well. But you must tell me all you

know about the Duke’s plans.

Oh no! His body won’t be there. The Duke has thought of everything. There is a pipe going

from the King’s room down into the moat. They will tie a heavy stone to the King’s feet. Then

they will push his body down the pipe.
