Why Eurocentres?
Why Eurocentres?
Individual supportA language course abroad is more than simply learning a lan-guage – it is a life experience. Whether you dream of studying in another country, landing your perfect job or interacting with the locals on your next holiday, at Eurocentres you will receive the attention and support you need to achieve your goals. The EUROCENTRES SUCCESS SYSTEM is based on a proven learning system that offers structured, individualised study plans and permanent feedback on progress by a qualified teacher.
Fast progress Learning styles and interests differ from one course participant to the next. Therefore Eurocentres attaches great importance to assessing your initial language skills and goals. We will discuss these with you before your booking, on your arrival at the school and during your course. This forms the basis of your personal self-study plan and allocation to a particular class. During your stay, your teacher will meet you regularly to discuss your learn-ing progress and to ensure that you achieve your learning goals quickly and confidently.
Top locations and state-of-the-art learning environmentSpacious, bright classrooms, state-of-the-art furniture and cutting-edge technology provide the ideal conditions for effec-tive learning. Study areas, communal rooms and fast wi-fi in all schools build a solid foundation for your success. Our schools are centrally located and have been designed to meet the par-ticular needs of language students. Our programmes offer you a variety of suitable destinations for learning abroad. The choice is vast thanks to our extended network of partner schools, which have been carefully selected and regularly audited by Eurocentres. They offer an outstanding range of benefits and services, which may vary from those offered by Eurocentres schools.
Home away from homeEurocentres takes great care in selecting your accommodation. We place much importance on providing you with the best environment in which to thrive. If any issue should arise, such as homesickness or difficulties with your homestay family, someone is always on hand to help you: your class teacher, accommodation coordinator, academic manager or centre manager. All schools have a 24-hour emergency number.
Meet the worldStudying at a Eurocentres school means meeting people from more than 90 countries. The well-balanced mix of nationalities enriches the experience of learning and using a foreign language in a multicultural context. You will learn to communicate and socialise with people from all over the world.
Practise outside the classroomThe best way to practise is to use your new language skills out-side the classroom. Eurocentres offers you plenty of opportuni-ties to do so through its well-balanced and enriching social activities programme. You can participate in activities of your choice in order to get more out of your language adventure.
Investing in your futureLearning a language is a major investment in your future. The Eurocentres Foundation, an institute of Migros Culture Percentage, has been providing language services for more than 60 years and aims to bridge national, cultural and social barriers. We are a non-profit organisation and therefore it is part of our mission that any profits are reinvested in our operations for your benefit.
Swiss qualityEurocentres provides every day Swiss quality. We ensure the quality of our teaching, facilities and services systematically through audits, customer feedback and accreditation by external organisations to ensure you receive the best learning experience.
Experience countsThe first Eurocentres school opened in England in 1948 – one of the first language schools worldwide. Our reputation for providing quality education has led to our appointment as consultant to the Council of Europe since 1968. In this role we contribute significantly to the development of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, a worldwide standard for language learning. Our innovative language methodologies are constantly developed and adapted to meet current needs.

QualityQuality is paramount. A consultant to the Council of Europe since 1968, Eurocentres played a crucial role in the development of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, a worldwide standard for language learning. This guideline provides a basis for developing and comparing language courses and results. As a founding member of EAQUALS, Eurocentres has continuously set global standards for high quality language learning.
AccreditationAll Eurocentres schools are accredited by one or more external quality assurance organisations such as EAQUALS and the British Council (for full details see page 69). Our innovative language methodologies and services are constantly developed and adapted to exceed expectations and we regularly achieve points of excellence.
You can find a public report by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, one of the UK quality assurance organizations here: http://www.educationaloversight.co.uk/home/ Our schools received excellent results in the assessments with just one recommendation for improvement. This recommendation has been addressed and resolved.
Quality at Eurocentres Eurocentres’s strong commitment to quality is evident in its high performance standards. All aspects of the school and services are monitored systematically by our Quality Management System. We go the extra mile to ensure fast and sustainable progress and strongly believe that quality matters for a successful learning experience.

Accommodation
Accommodation
We do our best to ensure you feel truly at home in your host country. Whether you choose to stay in a homestay, a student residence, a hotel or guesthouse, you can be sure that all accommodation options have been carefully selected by Eurocentres. You will be spoilt for choice: select the type of accommodation that suits your needs.
HomestayMost Eurocentres students choose our homestay programme. It is one of the best ways to get to know your host country’s cus-toms and culture, and the ideal opportunity to use your newly acquired language skills. You will have your own room, furnished to a good local standard. If you have any special requirements, such as a vegetarian diet, please let us know on the registration form. We will make every effort to comply with your wishes when arranging your accommodation. Our homestay families – with and without children, older couples and single people – are carefully selected and regularly inspected by our local staff, following clearly defined quality standards. We have been working with most of our hosts for many years now and all are experienced in looking after guests in their homes.
Hotel or apartmentMost of the apartments we offer are basic, inexpensive studios with a bedroom/living room and a kitchenette. The range of apartments varies from location to location. We are also happy to arrange or recommend accommodation for you in a two, three and four-star hotel or guesthouse.
Student residenceIn a student residence, contact with students from all over the world will give you the chance to form and deepen friendships. You will have your own room and be responsible for your own meals. Some residences have university restaurant facilities nearby where you can eat at a reasonable price. Others have communal kitchens where you can prepare your own meals, although not all are equipped with crockery, pots and pans.

Yuiko Ono, JapanMy English has progressed a lot since I came here, especially my pronunciation and speaking skills. The teachers are also good at organising classes and they teach and explain in a very kind way. They always try to understand students and they notice what we need. The social programme events are always fantastic, I often join them with my friends. Meet more students on www.facebook.com/eurocentres

There is hardly any other country more fascinating and diverse than the United States. Living here offers unlimited possibilities, from experiencing exciting city life to exploring the wild and unspoilt country, as well as contact with the country’s open and welcoming population. Learning English in a country that is a leader in research, technology, trade and industry will not only improve your language but also develop your personality.
San Diego“America’s finest city” is quickly becoming the primary destination for travellers. With its year-round near-perfect climate, picturesque beaches, stunning landscape and cultural venues, San Diego is the ideal location for international students wanting to experience American culture in a safe, friendly city.
New YorkThere’s nothing bite-sized about the Big Apple, the city of super-latives. No other city on earth brings together so many races, cultures, religions and nations. New trends are born here all the time, between the skyscrapers of Manhattan, along Broadway, Wall Street and Central Park.
East LansingA typical university town, but with all the amenities one would expect from a big city: restaurants, coffee bars, entertainment centres, malls, all within walking distance of the campus and the student residences. A wonderful, true uni-versity experience.

Asgard Hubl, GermanyWhat helped me overcome my shyness in speaking English was the friendliness of everyone working at the school. I never hesitated to ask questions because all the people were very helpful. During my time in San Diego, I made many friends, tried new food and had a lot of fun. I will miss San Diego and the great time I had, but I will definitely keep in touch with everyone! Meet more students on www.facebook.com/eurocentres

During the winter months, whale watching is a firm favourite.

Malta
Malta, with its medieval, renaissance and baroque architecture, lies right in the heart of the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean, just off the southern tip of Italy. The Maltese archipelago consists of the three incredibly small islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino, area 314 km², and the small population lives happily and peacefully in a sunny, blue, English-speaking environment. Malta has a temperate winter climate where the sun shines practically every day. In summer, the inviting seas and light breezes cool you down from the hot sun.
SliemaSliema is Malta’s fashionable cosmopolitan town on the sea-front, dotted with shopping arcades, casinos, wine bars, open-air cafés, waterfront restaurants, cinemas, water sports, bowling alleys and games parlours. Adrian Glapinski, PolandI loved my stay in Malta and was positively surprised by the rich history and culture that it has to offer. Prehistoric temples and many beautiful bays impressed me a lot. I have improved my English and also met many other foreign students from all over the world. This is all thanks to the NSTS interesting leisure programme and fun after-school activities. It was a great experience and I hope that I will manage to come back again soon. Meet more students on www.facebook.com/eurocentres

In France, people speak the language of love, fashion, gastronomy, diplomacy and culture. It is the most visited country in the world with everything you could ever want to see: great cities, monuments and spectacular mountain and coastal scenery. The most famous sights of “la grande nation” are to be found in Paris.
ParisNotre-Dame, Sacré-Cœur, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and other historic buildings and monuments dominate the skyline. A city full of spirit, famous for its arts and “joie de vivre”, its wide boulevards and winding streets. Varied nightlife: trendy bars and clubs, traditional brasseries. Euro Disney is close to the city.
La RochelleCoastal location with islands, sandy beaches and sleepy fishing villages. The rich history of this harbour town has always been inseparable from the Atlantic. From the old port, the first French colonialists left for Canada in the 15th century. Fantastic water-sports facilities (sailing, surfing) along the Atlantic coast. A friendly student town.
AmboiseWonderful little town in the “Garden of France”. Ideal base for excursions to the world-famous Loire castles and vineyards. Amboise is situated in Touraine, a region well known for its pure French and classed in 2000 as a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s no coincidence that Mick Jagger has chosen to make Amboise his second home!

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages and Spain is the ideal country in which to learn it. In Spain, the sound of rolling waves and dance music combine with contemporary architecture and centuries-old Moorish buildings, siestas and modern business life, to form a unique, vibrant blend. Lovers of the Mediterranean joie de vivre, modern design and a rich cultural heritage will be enchanted by life in Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid or Seville.
BarcelonaSituated between mountains and the Mediterranean sea, Barcelona is a cosmopolitan and dynamic city, full of life and varied culture. The city’s unique personality is reflected in its art and architec-ture, where ancient and modern styles coexist in a fascinating mixture.
ValenciaMore than 2000 years of history is reflected in the numerous mon-uments and museums of Spain’s third largest city. Valencia has a warm year-round climate and the countless gardens and beaches create a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. A multicultural city with many festivals. Valencia is less than 4 hours from Barcelona and Madrid by train.
MadridMadrid is the melting pot of the Latin world, where people from all parts of Spain and South America have made themselves a new home. As the capital of Spain, it is the gov-ernmental and commercial centre where you can find everything Latin under the sun: fascinating muse-ums, first-class restaurants, great nightlife (be prepared to change your body clock), all set in a very inviting and friendly ambiance.
SevilleSeville is the classic heart of Spain where you can find every typical Spanish tradition: tapas, flamenco, colourful religious processions, bullfighting, siesta, late nights and amazing architec-ture, to name but a few. On the other hand, Seville never stands still and is a wonderful place for nightlife, art, shopping and restaurants.

Bob Appels, The NetherlandsI had a fantastic time at the school in Valencia. The classes are small with only a few people, so I learned the language really quickly. The teachers are very friendly and you have different teachers during the day. We learned the grammar by playing different games, talking, listening and doing assignments. I enjoyed my time here and I would definitely come back. Meet more students on www.facebook.com/eurocentres

Buenos Aires

Argentina
Argentina comes from the Latin term “argentum”, which means silver. The origin of this name goes back to the first voyages made by the Spanish conquerors to the Río de la Plata. The survivors of the ship-wrecked expedition mounted by Juan Díaz de Solís found indigenous people in the region who gave them silver objects as presents. It is a charming and energetic country with lots to offer: gorgeous landscapes, cosmopolitan cities and lively culture. Argentina is safe, friendly and very affordable.
Buenos Aires“My beloved Buenos Aires” is one of the most famous tango songs. The secret of the city lies in having everything: culture, architecture, art, music, and non-stop nightlife. A fascinating city, worth discovering block by block (“cuadra” as we say here). The city of Buenos Aires is character-ised as having a strong European influence, which is reflected not only in the city’s architectural design but also in the composition of the population, the majority being of Spanish or Italian descent.

Peru
Peru, combining the modern and the ancient, is home to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu – the ‘Lost City of the Incas’. Its rainforests contain butterflies bigger than your hand, pink dolphins and trees that walk! Surfers can catch the longest known wave, whilst onlookers can enjoy the famous cuisine. Spanish is the first language of the country, and the Nobel Prize for literature was recently awarded to a Peruvian author.
CuzcoCuzco, a charming city high in the Andes, is captivating to all who tread its steep, cobbled streets built by the ancient Incas. This welcoming place, surrounded by mountains and impressive ruins, is a place where you can feel at home immediately.

Toby Waterman, Great BritainThe school was a great stroke of luck for me. I was initially attracted to the school because of its work educating local teenagers. As the course progressed, I was impressed with the thoroughness of planning and the range of activities involved. Being a teacher myself, I could tell each lesson was specifically designed for my needs. In addition, the staff of the school generously showed me aspects of Cuzco not normally seen by tourists. Recommended!

Alejandro Correales Camacho, ColumbiaMy six months at Eurocentres were incredible. I got to know people from different countries and learned a lot about their cultures. I also learned Italian! I arrived without any knowledge of this language, but thanks to the excellent teachers and staff I achieved a high level and I would like to thank them for everything they have done. I will never forget this beautiful experience and I will definitely return to Eurocentres! Thank you for everything. Meet more students on www.facebook.com/eurocentres

In small groups, especially in private lessons, you learn a lot. And with the afternoon activities you also get to know the Japanese culture, which is always fun and interesting. Russia
Russia’s economic boom has profoundly transformed the country and its infra-structure, and has led to the emergence of a new and vibrant modern lifestyle. The opportunities are enormous but so are the challenges, and to witness these historic changes is an extraordinary and unforgettable experience. However, no amount of westernisation will ever change the much-quoted “Russian Soul”.
MoscowMoscow is the New York of Russia, the city that never sleeps, but where old Russia is still evident. The many churches with their onion-shaped towers, old buildings and palaces and, of course, Red Square and the Kremlin, give the city centre a unique character. Moscow is both familiar and exotic – fascinating every visitor with its charm.
St. PetersburgThe beauty of St. Petersburg lies in the unique harmony of its architecture – baroque, classical and art nouveau, all enhanced magnificently by the ever-present water. Explore this world cultural heritage city that seems to consist entirely of palaces, churches and romantic canals.

If you want to study longer than 90 days, you can apply for a cultural exchange visa (M-Visa) for which the school will provide you with an invitation letter (see Visa registration fee to pay). The visa granted is for 90 days with a double entry. After 90 days you have to leave China - for a neighbour country if you wish to - and on return you will be granted another 90 days. Up-to-date information can be found on these websites: http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/ljzg/3647/ or the Chinese embassy in your country: www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/embassy_list.htm
