Dear Parents,

Assalamualaikum,

A Very Happy March 2018 from the KG 1 Team!

The school’s reason for existence is the children, and they are what give character to the

Events gone by….

Sports Day was an all-day activity held at the beginning of the calendar year keeping in mind

the cool weather. Children were grouped into colour-coded teams and participated in a variety

of individual and team events and games. Events chosen were fun, safe and all children

participated in them. Some of the games planned were relays, skill games using balls,

balancing, water transfers, obstacle race and tug of war.

The day commenced with a drill performed by all the children of KG1 and KG2. The children

were all set for the individual as well as team games and participated in a wide range of

activities. They cheered on their teammates and learned valuable lessons in sportsmanship.

The games planned for the children were:

1. Water Splash

2. Obstacle Race

3. Follow the Footsteps

4. Frog Race

5. Aim at the Clown

6. Knock us Down

7. Balancing Water with a Ladle

8. Hole in Cup- Water transfer

9. Roll and Swirl

10. Tug of War

11. Balancing Ball

12. Puzzle

Even the teachers participated in the tug of war and race in which they showed perseverance

and set a good example by cheering for the winners and displaying good sportsman spirit.

You may view all these activity pictures on the school

Facebook page.

From the teacher’s desk:

Motivation can make a dramatic difference to the achievement of students irrespective of their

IQ. It is important to instill a positive inner drive in your child early on. Studies show that a

warm, supportive home environment offers a child a strong incentive to achieve. In such a home,

the child is open and uninhibited about his/her special interests and feels free to follow his/her

curiosity. Encouragement when striving and praise for accomplishment is a far more effective a

motivator than criticism for apparent failures.

Sincerely,

KG1 Team

Fruit Salad Activity – 11th February 2018

Peel the bananas, chop them into pieces and add to the bowl

with the rest of the fruits. Measure out the orange juice. Pour

it into the bowl and mix everything together. The yummy fruit

salad is ready to be served…… This was great fun as the

children virtually made the whole thing themselves, peeling

clementine’s, cutting apples and dipping them in orange juice

to stop browning, helping to cut grapes and pineapples, and

putting them all together.

The children not only learned how to make a fruit salad independently, but also learned:

Vocabulary words - the names of the fruits we used.

Healthy practices - washing hands before touching the food, washing the fruits before peeling or cutting

them and using clean bowls and spoons.

Staying safe- to follow safety rules when using a knife.

Healthy eating choices – by discussing likes and dislikes and making good healthy choices
