LUELUE – GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

GENERAL AIMS

• to acquire the ability to understand the meaning of oral messages

• to acquire the ability to understand the meaning of written messages

• to be able to fulfill basic communication needs• to be able to write short simple messages


OBJECTIVES• To offer adults basic knowledge of English so as to be able

to manage by themselves in English-speaking environments

• To acquire basic knowledge of the four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening

• To encourage positive attitudes towards learning English and to improve their ability to interact with others though English

• To help students use English in a broad range of contexts• To help students discover other cultures through sharing

information in English




TARGET GROUP

• 24 teachers from the pre-university system of education.

OUTCOMES >>>• All the students will show more confidence in using

English in a variety of contexts • All the students will acquire the basic reading,

writing and speaking skill necessary to facilitate language learning, through the use of diverse materials, drawn from contemporary sources.

• At least 20 students will be able to understand and use basic vocabulary and expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance



>>> OUTCOMES• At least 15 students will acquire the ability to

communicate in English in straightforward everyday and study-related situations.

• At least 15 students will acquire the ability to retrieve information and gain knowledge and understanding of British life and other cultures though the materials studied.

of what they know, understand and can do• student-student interaction • analysing work samples such as personal

presentations, short letters, short speeches on various topics, student-student interactions, portfolios.



DESCRIPTION OF LINGUISTIC COMPETENCES FOR A2 LEVEL

Understanding:ListeningListeningUnderstand phrases and the highest frequency

vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment).

Catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.




Understanding:ReadingReadingRead very short, simple texts. Find specific, predictable information in

simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables.

Understand short simple personal letters.




Speaking:Spoken interactionSpoken interaction

Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities.

Handle very short social exchanges.




Speaking:Spoken productionSpoken production

Use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms family and other people, living conditions, educational background and present or most recent job.




Writing:WritingWritingWrite short, simple notes and messages. Write a very simple personal letter, for

example thanking someone for something.
