• LANL is greatly concerned for your safety in the laboratory environment.

• You may encounter hazards that you are unaware of, for example Beryllium.• As a result of this concern the laboratory will make you

aware of hazards you might encounter and train you to employ safe working practices.

• The training you will receive enhances your safety and that of your fellow workers.

• LANL is entrusted with an important national security mission. It is essential that you be aware of your responsibility not to compromise the lab’s procedures regarding security.

The next step- • If you plan on working at LANL for more than 10 days in a

calendar year, you will need to take GET training, course# 15503, which is offered at the White Rock training facility here at Los Alamos.

• If you plan on working in Building 364 (the Near Detector Laboratory) at TA-53, this building is posted as a “radiation controlled area” which requires a TLD badge and GERT training. This is available through the TA-53 visitor/training office. If you currently have either GERT training or Rad-worker training please forward or bring a copy of your training record with you.

• Any additional training will depend on the type of work you wish to perform, please think about what activity you may wish to be involved with and let us know.– Examples; electrical work, cryogens, compressed gas, soldering, etc.
